On the 18th of August’2008, a beleaguered Pervez Musharraf announced his resignation as the President of Pakistan. Now after a year the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) wants to try him for treason. The embattled leader continues to deny all charges pressed against him, putting up a staunch defence of his eight-and-a-half years in office, a period that began when he seized power in a coup in 1999, dismantling the Government of Nawaz Sharif of the PML-N.Mr. Musharraf, notorious for being a long-time ally of the US, witness a sink in his popularity since May 2007, after he sacked the country’s Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The declaration of emergency also involved a complete ban on all media channels, which led to a widespread demonstrations and an all out media campaign against his regime.

Being a regular Facebook junkie, just voted on the poll regarding Musharraf’s trial. The interesting fact is that more than 11,000 people have voted in just 3 days (if numbers provided by the poll are correct). This is quite a number for a poll to be hit. Even research companies take lot of time to conduct such surveys and their sample is less…
So far the verdict is in favour of a trial by 53% supporting and 45% not supporting. It comes as a big surprise as I had this feeling the whole Pakistan wants to see him in court. Or may be the facebook is a previllage and only the upper middle class and higher class have access to it. In both ways, the Poll is a hit , not so much for Musharaf haters, as it seems he is making a strong come back. Another key point here is , that what difference would it make if he is trialed or not , the thieves and thugs of the 90’s are still ruling Pakistan ! whatever happened to there trial.

One major draw back in Sharif’s politics is his ‘rivalry’ Politics . To be a politician we need to look beyond rivalries and shirt-term benefits , perhaps that pretty much implies for any authoritative career. The rivalry between Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf and Nawaz shareef runs from their past differences. Although things have changed drastically after the Nawaz led government and the martial law imposition by Musharraf . Ever since then the ‘war’ between them is known to all . Now that Musharraf is out of the scene Nawaz seems to have calmed down also . It appears as if he has dropped his usual bashing and rivalry and began to have a brighter approach . As it appears according to wall street Journal Nawaz in an interview said he would not hurdle Musharraf’s way out of the country.

Sharif acknowledged that some of his supporters wanted to see Mr Musharraf in jail, but said he personally bore no grudges and would not mind him slipping out of the country.A lot of prominent PML N leaders have been supporting the need for a trial . The emphasis has come in from different party member who insist Musharraf should face trial . They have also publicly opposed the possibility of his leaving the country .
Musharraf in his farewell speech had emphasized the back drops of a trail or impeachment on country’s stability. A lot of people also believe that we should focus on the current situation in Pakistan rather then living in the past . There is a lot that needs to be done in the country . The focus shouldn’t dwindle .Here’s hoping that the politicians learn to maintain the prime focus on the needs of the people.

The speaker national assembly officially accepted the resignation and also declared President Musharraf to be the first man in Pakistan history to have resigned in accordance to the constitution . Following
Musharraf’s resignation he received the guard of honor as he made his way out of Presidency. The naval forces , army and air force have also declared to bid farewell to the President. Musharraf’s resignation marks an end to his 44 yrs in Pakistani service , initially as an army officer . His farewell became a graceful ending to the much hyped controversy .
Following the resignation the Presidential post has been filled by the over volunteering Mr.Soomro . This is the second time he has been sought to act as an acting authority , previously he was asked to act as an acting Prime minister. There is an obvious end to everything whether it comes with acceptance or negligence. This however marks and end to Musharraf’s reign only and cannot be tagged as the beginning of democracy in the country . Well obviously because beggars are not choosers now are they ? , our nation lacks sincere and polished politicians. Thereby we are left on the mercy of the tried and the tested . Even in times like this we should not loose hope and
should maintain our decorum . In all good or bad Musharraf’s resignation marks the beginning to the end of revenge based politics . its time that our leaders should stop basing judgments on utter rivalry and ork towards national interest . Meetings are underway of who to choose as the upcoming President . Bilawal ‘bhutto’ zardari has claimed the candidate to be from the PPP . The self appointed bhutto is most likely to name daddy dearest for the post . Talk about the future of the country directly being in the hand of the ‘youth’.
May the uncertainities shed off and the sun shines brightly on our nation . We as individuals need to strat taking steps towards spreading political awareness among our people. We need education and understanding of political matters . Education is the only steps towards combating theories that declare Pakistan non deserving of democracy . Unfortunately the educated class doesnt represent the majority and thereby teh feudal lord will continue to be elected until people seek difference of opinion . For a brighter much prosperous Pakistan the epowerment of people is extremely important . There is nothing more we need right now other then to stand firm and united an not loose hope and faith . There is a lot more that waits for us and we as a nation will make it through GOD WILLING ! (INSHALLAH)

After the shocking resignation form presidency the uncertainties are prevailing yet again . the coalition partners are all set for an important meeting . The immature ‘chairman’ of the PPP is also flying back to Karachi to take part in ‘decision making’. Its only been a few hours of resignation and slogans of stability and reinstatement of economy are already abuzz. according to sources with in minutes of the resignation the stock market magically shot up . Its also been said that rupee received significant appreciation against dollar . As I write this posts news flash by claiming ‘ Taliban’s have stopped the civil war for an undecided time span’.
All this with in a few hours of the unexpected resignation . Yes I call it unexpected because it wasn’t
certainly most likely of Musharraf to make ’surprise’ announcements such as this . As usual this incident is being highlighted as a turning point in history of Pakistan . It is sad how our nation is deprived of political awareness , how they are made to believe that anything can be a one man show . Musharraf’s reign reflected times of prosperity merged with some wrong steps that led to his eventual ‘down fall’. To sum up his role as catastrophic will be unfair . As said by Musharraf himself its is foolish to believe that 8 years of rule have only led the country towards destruction . As we pay farewell to the President, hope still lingers on .
Somehow one doesn’t believe if this is truly the end of his time in Pakistan . It is most unlikely of him to quit like he did . Well ! what is left to say when everything is right there plain and simple . Musharraf in his speech summed up his rule and mentioned his efforts towards maintaining unity and appreciating others criticism. If Musharraf deserves some true credit it is surely his handling of criticism . It couldn’t even be imagined neither can it be expected form any other political figure to openly stand against brutal criticism like him . he not only allowed the media to openly criticize him but also answered blunt questions in talk shows very calmly . If anything is bound to leave with Musharraf its definitely the freedom of speech for the media. Musharraf’s lead on the media however also became the turning point of his career . The media suddenly opted to battle against the President and provoked much restlessness among the people. The good for nothing allies of Musharraf also turned out to be ‘truly good for nothing’ . Overall one thing after the other laid the foundation of a bitter sweet farewell for the president. Many however hoped that he would not leave us at the mercy of Mr.Zardari . O well what can one predict now , its only a matter of time .
The fate of President Musharraf post resignation is still undecided . however my personal opinion suggests his leaving the country will ruin his repution . It is sure to enlist him among the ‘other’ politcal figures in the country . What lies ahead is a long journey towards reinstating the country and strengthening law enforcement organizations. Let’s hope that this historic impeachment of the President brings waves of stability for the nation . The chances of a stable future remian uncertain specially with Mr.zardari being in the picture , but one can only hope and pray.

Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf has finally resigned from the prestigious post of the President of Pakistan . It is unfortunate as to how he resigned without giving an tough time to his rivals. I have always mentioned of not being Pro-Musharraf but his resignation did come as a shock to me . He has always posed to be a strong man and this was surely not expected of him . There must have been a lot of external and internal pressures piled up on him that is all I can think of . His speech reflected strain and pressure , this is an utter shock . The un-usual hype created by the media and PPP has actually turned out to be true . I wonder what happened to all those messages coming from the President that he will face the impeachment charges. This will surely harm his image and give the political opportunists more space .
We the team of Pro Pakistan wish that now the threat of Musharraf is over, the politicians do their best to take out the country out of the present crises instead of only blaming the past government for the misfortunes facing the country. Instead of Zardari blaming Musharraf and PML-Q, it is a golden opportunity for them to make a difference in the short life of our country, Pakistan

The President will address the nation at 1 pm today. The address will be very crucial and will determine the fate of President Musharraf as well as of Pakistan.

Its been a while that America has shown its ultimate faith in President Mush’s policies on the so-called war on terror. They have continuously backed Mush’ s decision with their usual appreciation and pressurized for further steps . There are many people out there who believe that the President’s policies saved us from being targeted by America. While many more enchant slogans of mutiny against the President . No matter what angle things are looked out the break out of a possible civil war can not be out numbered . The tension is further exaggerated by foreign hands and the bashing from the media . The situations in Pakistan have been
painted in bright which have damaged the overall image of Pakistan as a nation . Reports of the impeachment left many with a wave of mixed feelings . Even staunch anti-mush supporters seem to fall in doubts about the country’s future . Amid such news it is obvious to give birth to many rumors and theories. While the truth remains overshadowed the writing on the wall shows America’s usual betrayal to its once favorite allies .
It is most amusing to hear statements from the white house saying ‘President George W. Bush believes only Pakistanis should decide who they want to lead their country, sending a clear signal that he will not rescue President Pervez Musharraf from an impeachment move’. Great Job ! I am glad you realized we too have the right to make ‘internal decisions’ . This by many has been taken as a back stabbing move towards the president by the US. Whereas many continue to believe in suggestions such as under table talks about ’safe exit’ or even remaining in presidency with minimum authority . Either ways its not worthy believing that America will actually ‘not care’ about who will be the next President .
Whether we call it conspiracy or under table deals both ways America’s involvement in Pakistan’s internal matters can not be refuted . The real plan is to wait and see the drama unveil itself slowly . Let’s hope that come what may the nation stands firm to face the decisions.

Right after the ritual backstabbing of the PPP towards President Musharraf , it appears there is room for a lot more. The PPP which continuously ‘claims’ to be a mature party with thoughts serving ‘national interest’ has another publicity gimmick up their sleeve . Sherry rehman while speaking to the press revealed that the impeachment conference might just happen on the 14th of August. PPP which has almost renamed Pakistan to bhuttoistan now wants to create their personal show on independence day . Do we not deserve a peaceful day at least once a year ? . The constant propaganda by the PPP has no other aim other then to cause further chaos in the country .
This is extremely frustrating and steps need to be taken towards stopping this anti state propaganda. The PPP’s ’self-appointed’Â chairman zardari has also claimed Mush has been involved in ‘corruption’ and acts that destabilized economy . He said the former army chief was also behind the killing of Benazir Bhutto. He said had Musharraf got properly investigated the Karsaz incident, the PPP would not have been deprived of its leader.
He claimed that there were no terrorists or suicide bombers in the country as the heinous crime was being committed by the conspirators planted by Musharraf. Exactly ! I wonder why the killing of Khalid shenshah who was major witness to the assassination was murdered months after BB’s assassination. A well renowned culprit like Mr. Zardari should know that for murdering someone there needs to be a ‘motive’ . Who got the most benefit out of BB’s death ? give me a Z-A-R-D-A-R-I . Agreed that some of Mush’s policies have cause much havoc .This surely doesn’t mean that he should also be blamed for BB’s death . As a matter of fact if anyone was most harmed after BB’s assassination it was Mush and his party . So let’s not blame everything on Mush dear . He should only pay and be accounted for the mistakes he has committed and that too if proven . Otherwise there is no room for putting up a ‘dramatic impeachment’ .
I wonder why so many issues in the country are never addressed and times is wasted on creating havoc. This issue is leading towards the destruction of peace and stability in the country.
