Ufone recently launched its UConnect service but it was not until i read a blog post on one my favorite Pakistani Tech Blog that i came to realize how amazing is the service. The Service is basically a truly Connecting service between your Computer and your Mobile using the Ufone UConnect application. Through UConnect, you can literally control your computer through your mobile. Now alot of my friends will be thinking that they have an old and obsolete device and hence they can not use this service….Hold!… The best thing is that this service is specifically made to include all such people as well and they can use their old and obsolete handsets to receive blackberry type of services and also access their computer hard disk while being on the Go.
The four main services offered by UConnect have been best described by TechLahore team and we will share them here with our readers. [click to continue...]

Sony Ericsson sets the bar as it unveiled IDOU the first 12 Mega pixel Camera in the mobile phone market.
Sony Ericsson latest news on the market is that it has revealed a 12 MP mobile phone which will surely end the war for the highest megal pixel camera. The phone is going to be available in the market this summer. As soon as the prices for the phone are available, Pro-Pakistan would update this blog. Below is one of the articles showcasing all about the IDOU handset.
SONY ERICSSON stole the show and limelight from many rivals in the camera phone stakes by revealing it will be bringing a 12 megapixel handset out in the summer. The IDOU, as it will be known, is designed by the firm to be the one “entertainment device” you’re ever going to need.
As well as the touchscreen, it has a Xenon flash and access to all your videos and music with the tap of a finger. But while it looked nice on the showfloor, and is a natural extension to their Walkman brand, I’m very unsure about the merits of 12MP handsets. After all, most of us don’t even own a digital camera with that kind of technology and we’re unlikely ever to need it unless you want to print a picture the size of Big Ben.

LG Cookie advertisement has surely created a buzz in the market. I might not have taken an interest in this phone if it was not for the expressions of the lady in its advertisement. Anyways, since i took interest in it so here is a quick review of the phone in which i have taken help from loads of other reviews that i came across.
Technically, the phone can be called LG Version of cheap iPhone since it has a touch screen with 3 megapixel camera. Keep in mind the fact that the touch screen always comes at a cost and in the case of LG Cookie, it is the fact that the phone does not have WiFi or 3G. It camera lacks any other features beside being a 3 Megapixel camera.

The Pakistani telecom industry is facing a slowdown as explained in detail by Shahbaz Khan in an earlier article on Pro Pakistan titled “Pakistan Cellular Market on a Downward Slide“. The slowdown has resulted in reduction in the acquisition of new subscribers and hence cast a new negative spell on the continuous growth for the telecom operators. If that was not enough, the government implemented the abolition of pre-activated sims in the market and hence further slowed down the growth to a standstill.
Now that the revenue side is not giving any positive outlook, companies are forced to look towards their cost side and hence will try to rationalize it to show a steady growth in their overall profitability. The focus on rationalizing cost is already evident in the telecom industry of Pakistan. I will share with you few of the cost rationalization strategies that are generally used by telecom wireless operators in the low ARPU markets.

Before we start discussion about the decision of government to end the pre-activated SIM regime in Pakistan, let’s just understand concept of pre-active connection. It means that when a customer buys a connection, the SIM is already activated on the operator’s system and the customer just needs to put it in the phone and start using the service. The advantage of pre-active SIM is that it provides the customer convenience in form of ready to use service. This has played a very important role in the aggressive growth of market in past as operators have even crossed a million activation in a month.
During last one year, the topic of non-verified SIM has been quite hot in media & the government has taken a lot of steps to curtail and end this menace. According to PTA record, 5 millions of SIM have been blocked in last few months because of lack of data available against the such connections. [click to continue...]
