The Centaurus, a developmental project under construction in blue area Islamabad. A project of Pak Gulf Construction, acquiring about 300,000 Sq ft of land. Atkins designs the complex.
This $350 million complex is planned to have a seven star hotel, along with two twenty one- story residential buildings. A twenty five- story corporate office and a five- story shopping mall.
It is believed that this Centaurus will be a representative sign for Pakistan, just as statue of liberty for U.S. It is an appreciable step indeed towards establishing a rapport of Pakistan in the world, but still the solution is temporary.
We have adopted the insight behind “Statue of Liberty” but never thought about adopting the “American dream.” What was that American dream which was forwarded by Martin Luther King Jr. [click to continue...]

Pakistanis in Denmark form the fifth-largest community of migrants and descendants from a non-Western country, The earliest Pakistani migrants came to Denmark in the 1960s and 1970s as migrant workers. That’s when the Danish Government opened doors for immigrants and termed them as guest workers.
Though the Danish government restricted labor migration in 1973, the Pakistani community continued to grow, largely through family reunification and transnational marriages. The spouses in these transnational marriages came largely from Pakistan, but roughly 3,000 were drawn from among the community of British Pakistanis as well. [click to continue...]

Being a resident of the twin cities of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, few days back my eyes caught a strange advertisement on the back of a local taxi. Here is what it said “Search on Google - Taxi Driver Asif Hussain Shah“. My initial reaction was a bit of indifference. However, later on when i was in front of my laptop, the thought again struck me and i decided to give it try to find out the real story behind this Taxi Driver Asif Hussain Shah
To my surprise, a simple search on Google came up with a alot of relevant results! Even there are YouTube videos and pictures of the said taxi driver. My first obvious response was one of very happiness that even people at the grass root level are now realizing the true potential of internet an how it can impact their lives. The fact that it made me further happy is because he is a type of Pakistani person, who will be the key [click to continue...]

A very good friend of mine uploaded a picture on Facebook that seems very interesting. The picture below shows a banner put up by local residents of a street in Rawalpindi. It seems there was a visit of “Nazim“and “Naib Nazim” to this area. Both,the caption and the message seems very powerful and a pinching critique to show a real face to administrators. Doesn’t this feel good that our people are becoming more aware and know more about their rights now as compared to 10 or 15 years ago?

In this picture post you can see the local lashkar dancing as Pakistan Army captured Bajaur. Its a historic moment for Pakistan as never has Pakistani flag hoisted in that region of FATA. Lashkar that was supporting Pakistan Armed Forces are seen dancing as Pakistan Army routed Al Qaeda and the Taliban from one of their main nerve centres near the Afghan border, where it has been fighting militants for nearly two years. So do comment on this picture and once again congrats to Pakistanis all over the world and well done Pakistan Armed Forces.

The security crisis is a well-versed topic for all of us. No need to get into that. Sentinels are posted at each and every point where a threat is anticipated and places where you could just randomly stroll in before, well now there is an extensive list of security measures you must comply with in order to gain entry. Educational institutions are just one example of places where security has been heightened to the highest degree. And very well so! What with the threat letters and phone calls being received by schools and universities alike, it is a consolation for the distraught parents to know that at the expense of the substantial—and thoroughly irritating—security measures that have been enacted as of recent, their children are safe and guarded. Hockey is the national sport of Pakistan. Over the years popularity of this once thriving sport is going sharply down, mainly due to the poor performance of Asian teams. However this is a new begining. The old foes, once the masters of the game, will clash on the opening day in a marquee match that organisers claim had been sold out at the 19,000-seater Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. Rest assured all the glamour of the 70s and 80s will be coming back when the old rivals face each other in an epic opening match. Never a hockey match between India and Pakistan has attracted such hype as this time. So lets hope its a great spectacle.
Rehan Butt the Pakistani stalwart has the following to say on this crucial opening match of the world cup;
The match against India will be indeed very important. India are a good side but we are ready for it. The 1-1 draw against Canada is not important as we didn’t play a full-strength side. I had injured my shoulder during a practice session before the match, while Akhtar (Ali) was also hit by ball. So team management tried different combinations as it didn’t want to put too much strain on us before the India match.
We at Pro-Pakistan , will bring all the Pakistan matches live here. Pakistan’s first match will be followed by a match against Spain on March 2. The greenshirts then play England on March 4, South Africa on March 6 and their last group match against Australia on March 8. So do visit us on match day and we will ensure all the Pakistani matches are shown here.

I have always been filled with overwhelming despair when I read the newspaper, and for the past few months now, I’ve stopped reading it. What’s going on, what law has been passed and who is getting swindled; I really don’t know. My participation in an event like PYLC opened my eyes to matters which I had never seriously considered, or at least never deliberated about a possible solution for them. I cannot relate the experiences of all the 8 committees, but the issues discussed by the Finance committee have been getting so much attention recently, so for those of you who’re interested, I feel compelled to share the salient points of the exhaustive debates here.
The tax generation problem has been around for much longer however, and whereas I lacked thorough insight in the predicament, my team members shredded the prevalent tax collection system to pieces. Every aspect was postulated and deliberated upon. [click to continue...]
