Raja Pervez Ashraf, minister for Power, announced that electric load shedding will be abolished from this country by 31st December, 2009. He did not say that once, but on many occasions. He categorically said that there will be no electric load shedding in Pakistan after 31st December, 2009. But guess what, the country took a nose dive in electric crisis on 31st December, 2009. Well shamelessly the minister holds his portfolio and smirks at the dumb founded nation. The culture to resign after failing to fulfill a certain promise by the politicians in this country never flourished, which shows the greed and love for power of these politicians. Had these politicians any love, respect and care for the people, they would had resigned on their failures. I mean ideally speaking the first and foremost priority of any minister is to serve the nation and the country and not to hold on to power for 5 years! But perhaps that is ideally! PPP has a recent history of breaking the promises. Whether, it was done to the nation for reinstating the judges or eliminating the 17th amendment or eradicating the electric crisis. When the top leadership fails to deliver then how can you expect the government to work under a command and in harmony? PPP’s ultimate promise was food, clothes and shelter for everyone but guess what sugar crisis is at its peak, cotton yarn crisis is hitting great heights and housing well they are too scared to touch that property-dealer mafia! From the very first day, when Asif Zardari promised Amin Fahim as Prime Minister till the promise of eradicating electric load shedding, all were broken and none of them were ever fulfilled. Just a reminder to Mr. Pervez Ashraf, that the 2 years is a lot of time for generating power. The government’s planning can be judged by the fact that government had no contingency plan if in-case Rental Power Projects failed to be initialized. There was not a single work done on setting up a company that could generate electricity from Coal or solar or wind energy. Had the government been so sincere they could have converted PM and President House’s to solar energy in the first phase, rather installing costly energy savers, similarly wind energy terrains could have been identified. India has become the fourth largest wind energy producer, beating Denmark. What a shame for us that our neighbor who got independence one day after us, has done so much progress. And please don’t point your fingers toward marshal laws, because thanks to these politicians the vacuum is always created. Had these politicians been less corrupt and done welfare and development for this nation, I promise you that this nation would had been on streets to stop marshal laws. And this government is no difference from any 90’s government where corruption, love for power and no development are the hallmarks. I still cannot forget the fact when Asif Zardari termed Kashmir movement as Terrorists! When Asif Zardari promised to reinstate judges within a specific time period! When this government promised to find the murderers of Benazir! When Mian Manzoor Ahmed Watto promised that sugar price at Rs 40! When Raja Pervez Ashraf yelled that there will be no electricity shortage by 31st December, 2009! One thing for sure has been done by this government and that is to break promises and give false hopes to the nation and fool them! In recent development Mr. Nabeel Gabol of PPP, also the state minister for ports and shipping and an important member of CEC (Central Executive Committee) of PPP has lashed out at the Raja Riaz, Fouzia Wahab and President for talking about the conspiracies. He has also shown a lot of resentment on government’s recent course of action. The government is struggling and the recent development between MQM and PPP is not a positive sign for this reeling government; which is finding hard to hold the ground. Had the government fulfilled its promises in due course; it would had helped the government to maintain some respect amongst the masses but failure to provide basic necessities and provide any relief to masses has led to great discredit of this government. They talk about the promise made to them by the constitution that government for 5 years but the government should also remember that just like they broke promises; someone can also break the promise of 5 years government! How do you take on Govt. which is now becoming an icon for breaking promises. We look forward to your comments; meanwhile enjoy an old hit from M.Rafi on “breaking promises” :) Related Articles |

A very saddening fact but the song part made me laugh! And yea just imagine the Pakistani population singing it out to Zardari! Fits the occasion!
‘A Government made for breaking promises!’
It starts from the top. Look at our so called president. One of the richest president of a poorest country in the world.
Its like we are being hurt from all sides.
