Hence 90’s Political Style Is Back In Fashion!

by Usman Zahid on December 21, 2009

After the Supreme Court’s decision on NRO the political canvas has changed the landscape as if hit by a massive earth quake. It seems that we have gone back to 90’s where all we heard was the government clash with other institutes or opposition or corruption or inflation. All this has seen to be revived after the NRO judgment; that came, the most surprising element were the recent comments given by Prime Minister to the media. It came as the most astonishing element of the recent regime when the most widely respected PM lashed out on media in defense of the most controversial President in the history of Pakistan.

According to many experts the current system is heading towards a major clash; i.e. Executive versus Judiciary. It seems that our politicians does not learn from past; and have not seen what happened with Musharraf government in the later stages when judiciary and executive clashed. It is ironic that how our ministers claim that we are in a state of war and look at our government’s priority; fighting against NRO; having more than eight hours long meetings over NRO and its defense; I wonder why there were no such deliberations over the electricity crisis or sugar crisis; perhaps because they were issues of masses and not of the top office holders.

What has come to be the most surprising element for me is the backlash of the PM; for many people PM was a soft spoken person who could not do much of the issues like sugar and electricity because his powers were curtailed by President but on NRO and FIA’s director Tariq Khosa’s reappointment; our beloved PM showed his true color. It is not the first time that PM is involved in a controversy; earlier, on giving promotions to the blue-eyed Baboos (Bureaucrats); that also through a much less transparent manner was reported but nothing was done. The answer against Swiss courts by the PM to the media was that, ‘President has spent 12 years in jail already.’ So in short even PM is accepting that Swiss cases are true and President has taken the punishment for it; well than that’s a good formula plunder the country, do money laundering and be in jail for 12 years and that’s that to make the black money white!

The funny part is that many PPP stalwarts, party members and Jialas said that they did not need NRO but then what is the backlash for? The reason is simple that after the judgment on NRO, PPP’s top leadership has been exposed badly. The government has not only lost its credibility but the party and its image been effected badly not even locally but also internationally. The Capitol Hill has also become critical in giving aid to the government for these very reasons; but nation should not be worrying about aid as the foreign aid has never been used for them but only for the elite and politicians and also for the government to carry out its lavish expenses.

Look at our political scenario in a larger picture; the government is least bothered if the poor dies of hunger; if industries are being closed due to non-availability of natural gas; our politicians are only worried about saving their skins. Shame on such people who proclaim themselves as leaders for being full of themselves!

Look at the opposition party PML (N); their leader Nawaz Sharif has yet again disappeared from the political scene to avoid any confrontation and to save himself from coming in lime light and from being exposed. I just want to remind Mr. Nawaz Sharif that leaders are like Quaid-e-Azam Jinnah who despite his own ailment was able to achieve his target; the petty excuse put forth by PML(N) that Mian sahib is out of country due to the health problems of his wife; well then I think it is better that he keeps out of this country and remain there.

I would like to divert government’s attention to some of the core issues faced by this nation;

* No natural gas for CNG’s or for industries or for domestic users
* Electric crisis is awakening again
* Sugar is being sold at more than Rs 50 per kg
* Law and order is at its worst
* Increase in utility prices every day
* Unemployment at the rise
* Corruption’s graph is at its peak

These and many other factors are adding a lot of misery to this nation and our politicians are too busy arguing over who has NRO and who has Mehran bank scandal and who has loan default cases.

The sad part is that government has done nothing so far; there are no policies of this government other than U-turn policy applied everywhere; whether it was reinstating the judiciary or NRO or Kerry Lugar Bill. If this is the vision of this government then why do they expect masses to respect the sacrifices they made which according to me are hardly any; as far as BB’s death is concerned it was not a party’s sacrifice it was an incident, a sad incident; sacrifice is something that you give up something precious of yours on your own for a greater cause but giving up BB for paving way of Zardari as President is by no means a sacrifice; in fact BB’s death is loss to the country, party and the nation and as a result this tragedy has led us to a quagmire where we are stuck with PPP-Zardari group.

I thought we had move on over the petty politics and grown in stature as a nation and as politicians but unfortunately the politicians have divided this country on Sind card and other such factions; this also reflects the greed and lust for power in the current regime; where morals are non-existent and corruption is premium. If we are fighting on which party or individual is lesser bad then may ALLAH protect us from the wrath of these wolves who claim themselves as our leaders and as a profession are politicians-cum-plunderers!

as observing the present situation of pakistan one can say that this country will be destruct.politicians loots and the public is always quite even most of people’s are not aware that what is happening around where the govt: is corrupt the people’s are also on the false.

some people’s understand the critical condition of this country and regrets while others are illiterate they dont know a word about politics or current affairs.

So the politicians are taking most of it in all the way around.i ‘d say that the people’s should also think that this is our country and we must step ahead to save it.
or else one day we will again become the slaves of british.
