Amir Khan Koncks Out Salita: See the full fight viedo

by Mansoor Ehsan on December 6, 2009

I am a big fan of boxing specially the furious King Khan (as he is known in the boxing ring). Amir Khan the 22 year old British Pakistani defended his WBA World Light-Welterweight title splendidly just 3 days before his 23th birthday. As the fight started, it took him just 10 seconds to uproot his opponent who never recovered from the first knock out.

The fight which sparked a lot of fire in local media being tipped as Muslim vs Jew fight was a real treat for the fully packed spectators at Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle. Although both the fighters rejected the ‘Muslim vs Jew’ factor but the story was ON.

The fight lasted just for 76 seconds and came out as the first defeat for Dmitriy Salita in his 31 fights career prior to this contest. Here is how the Telegraph’s boxing corrspondent Gareth A Davies tells the story:

These were simply fists of fury from the former Olympic silver medallist who grows more compelling by the fight.

After a pause on the opening bell, the pair touched gloves and Khan pounced, catching Salita with a right and left combination and bludgeoned the New Yorker to the floor. Literally, he could not see what was coming from the flashing fists of the Bolton tyro.

Salita regained his feet but was immediately under attack again in the corner, under a barrage of punches. Predictably, the challenger was soon sent flying again into the ropes from a devastating left hook. Salita did not seemed particularly hurt, but he was certainly stunned and was in no position to continue.

Referee Luis Pabon had seen enough, and stepped in to save Salita from a savage beating. This was Khan at his very best.

news like these will be ignored in media. Why don’t they show this 24/7 or the lifes that army is giving to fight extremism?? That is because Pakistan media just wants to create thrill and that is what they make maximum money out of. Media is more worried about making money than serving the country.

media is urged to give positive elements such as this. The nation needs a role model and lets urge media to be that. We don’t want to see entertainment at this tragic time but atleast we can see the positive things that are happening in the country such as this.
