The least populated province of Pakistan, Balochistan, has been marked with blood over a period of years now; though the province is richest amongst the presence of natural resources in the country; whether gold or gas. The province holds an important place in the country’s strategic, economic and resource supply. Though Balochistan has been crying over ages now but our leaders seem to be deaf and blind to see the tears or hear the sigh of the people. In a recent development the incumbent government marked with many controversial labels; tabled the package for Balochistan titled as, ‘Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan’, presented by PPP stalwart Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, along with his seven team members.
More or less these points envisage the whole package given to the people of Balochistan. The much awaited package does not bring in any immediate relief for the people struck with turmoil and strife. It took government good one and a half year to bring out such a package that was rejected by the evening of the day when it was tabled, by most of the Nawabs and local leaders of the Balochistan. Most of the Balochistan local leaders want Mian Nawaz Sharif to be a party of the package and act as a guarantor whereas other local leaders refuse to accept the package due to government’s instable nature and history of breaking promises and other leaders reject the package saying that it has nothing for the locals and for the province. The current government is not all to be blamed for; either for the package or for the current situation of the Balochistan. The Nawabs, Elders and Local Leaders are as much as part of the current situation as our previous governments. Not to forget that India’s involvement in the current turmoil in Balochistan has already been accepted by the Indian Prime Minister at Devos; though later denied. The only developed city of Balochistan that comes to mind is Quetta which also forms to be the provincial capital-city; whereas other then this not any city can be termed as a proper developed urban center of the province. One of the major reasons for lack of development in Balochistan is the traditional ‘Tribal system’ of the area; due to this system the tribal leaders hold and block the power which halts the development of the province. In case of the development of the province these power centers will be broken and the tribal leaders will lose their control on the people. As Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bazenjo puts it, ‘Empower the locals’, which for me is hard to understand because with this current set-up of the area the locals cannot be empowered unless and until the tribal system is broken down or the tribal leaders are willing to be less powerful and delegate the powers to the masses. Any ways the current package is a disappointment in a number of ways because the outcome as compared to the time taken by the government is not much; the points mentioned in the package provide no short-term relief to the province; it does not end target killing over-night nor it gives any relief to the masses in one way or the other. What could have been done by the government was to announce short-term goals along with long-term goals which could have included emphasis on the current law and order situation; provision of electricity in far flung villages of the province; declaring economic and industrial zones in the region so that through private firms employment would had been created; special subsidies for the area that would had developed an economic cycle for the region sparking change through short-term goals that would had lead to long-term goals and would had made the success ratio of any such package much high then as compared to the current package which to me is more of a politically styled that in the end will find its way into a shelf of dead projects and packages without any implementation. I wish that we people who are so peace loving and tolerant, could raise one voice the same away against terrorism and extremism in out country. We are so powerful that at times we foget what changes our voice can bring. Unfortunately we have been silent for long. I hope that we speak as united soon against extremism so that this threat of teroor is swiped from our country.
this is just the beginning. I think awareness should be given by the media to the entire nation in the same way. These are the people who basically make the majority of the nation that is the lower middle class. If they speak as one their voice has a immense pressure on government and everyone and thus I believe we need to speak against extremism as a single voice. We have remained silent for long not anymore!!
I have gone through the package and its totally rubbish.we dont want packages.Do they think that we are beggers.We want our money back with independence and we want to live as an independent country.Pakistan is not a country.Neither there is any demoracy nor there will be any when there is everything distributed on the basis of population.
And Pakistanis fight about Kashmir, India and Self Determination. Why not self determination for the Balochis ? Practice what you preach. Pakistanis freed themselves from the Indian (Hindus) who had a different cultural identity to the predominantly northern Indian Muslims, a basis for Ali Jinnah to call for independence. And Pakistanis hail the partition as an achievement of freedom. Why not confer that very freedom to the Balochis? The very freedom Pakistan is fighting for the Kashmiris (i.e. freedom of self-determination) should be applied for the Balochis.

we (BALOCHS) donot need any packages from pak we just want our motherland back in our control. we were n are a nation before creation of pak pak is not a country it is land of terrorism, it is not a democratic nor a Muslim country and it is dangerous for world. we give packages and donations to countries like pak
extortion of money from balochistan by pakistan is not a hidden thing they are making punjab prosperous by abusing all the resources of diffrent regions like baloch and Azad kashmir ..
As far as my knowledge is concerned Balochistan was a country that also had its part in Iran i.e. part of Balochistan is in Iran but i don’t see any such resentment in Iran by the Balochis? I am not against any Balochi or their rights or their voice for an independent state or anything because its their land and they can do whatever they want; its their right but it is important to remember her that if part of Balochistan is in Iran and you are not asking for that land to be free then why to stand here and raise your voice in vain? Secondly most of the exploitation in Balochistan is being done by their own leaders; who own coal mines and other natural resources; and bargain on their vested interests; their is no one particular voice coming from Balochistan; the turmoil is no doubt large; the demands are scattered and as far as it goes breaking Pakistan’s another province then i do not think we will let it go without another fight; even if it goes!

Since 62 years we got nothing, and if there is a chance of a peace of bred then what the problem of our leaders, i think it is only because that the government anounced these posts only for those who are really able and no connection with the policians, it is our right

I am much awear about this issue I am the part of this provience. I just want to ask one thing from these extremists and these freedom fighters, that if in case you achive what you want so what wil you do after this…. because you people are not aweare that how to utilize your resources. And what you know is fighting. The vary next issue if in case you people survive in your gole, that who will be the leader of your nation, your tribes, your country. you people are distributed in different tribes, Marri not like Bughtei, Raysanis not like Rinds, and others are fighting with thier own brothers. many of your Sardars and Nawabs are using your hands to make money I my self like Nawab Akbar Khan Bughti. I like its ledership but in some extents, but he is not anti nationalist. he never said in his life that I want to breck Pakistan. he is the one who give his vote in the favor of Pakistan. now one thing else after if in case you get what you want can you tell me who’s picture will be printend on the currency… ok i got what you say that different People on different currency but again there will be a fight between the tribes that our leaders picture will be print on 1000 rs note….. and one thing the countries who are in your neaghbers will not leaves you to strugel in this land and you will be soon distroyed by your neghbers countries. oh you have resources I forget, but can you tell me how to use these resources without the machineries which you don’t have if you have then how will they work. becuse you people only know fightes, education are nothing infront of you people. cheting rate is high. so with this all what will be the future of your strugle…. think and observe my friends and see who is your enemy and who is your friends, who get what and who loss what. i just say one thing why killing inocents, poor and weak people why why why, you have to give the answer on judgment day when there will be no land no Sardar no Nawab no issue, no Balochistan, then there will be those people who was killed by you people and then their hands and your kolars. just think and finish these killings. and pray that may Allah forgive you and bless you. thanks and Khuda-hafiz………..
what is the need of time to think about the future of balochistan which is very much important.All the communities who are living in pak are hounered.Here the most critical issue has raised about the peace and rights of balochs,,which is essential to be given but i want to leave a message for my baloch community that rights cant be gotton by killing innonect masses,who themselves donot know Y they are killed.point to visualize BALOCHS.

The Packege is a good step from capital but province fredom is also awell for Balochistani people, and balochista should accept this packege it is better for balochistan people. but the post should anounce as soon as possible. in this packege pashtoon tribe will b ingnovering by baloch people. but this packege not be sucessfull without all balochistani locle/Domicile of each tribe
