Telenor Discounted Call and SMS Rates for Selected East Asian Countries

Competition is constantly increasing in Pakistan domestic telecom market and operators are coming up with new and exciting packages to capture the market share and to retain their existing subscribers.

In line with its tradition, Telenor Pakistan has recently introduced a new International Direct Dialing (IDD) package that offers discounted call rates to its customers. The package offers a 50% discount on all IDD calls (after first five minutes) to Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Japan (landline only) and India. Beside the voice calls, Telenor has also given a discounted SMS rates for the above mentioned East Asian countries to its valued subscribers. The Telenor subscribers availing this offer will be charged Rs 2.50+ tax per SMS instead of the regular rate of Rs 5.00+tax.

It is worth mentioning here that Telenor has recently increased its focus on the IDD segment and earlier offered similiar packages for Middle East and the subscribers going for Hajj to Saudi Arabia. The Middle East package offers 25% discount after first 3 minutes on the IDD calls and the SMS are charged at Rs 3.75+tax. It is worth mentioning here that majority of expatriate Pakistani’s work in the Middle East mainly UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and these discounted call rates will surely benefit their relatives living in Pakistan who frequently stay in contact with them through their Telenor numbers. A large number of Pakistani expatriates have also been based in East Asian countries like Malaysia, Japan and Bangladesh and the East Asia package is direct at their friends and family based in Pakistan.
