Pakistan vs New Zealand: Live Streaming 3rd ODI

by Mansoor Ehsan on November 9, 2009

So the series is leveled up 1 each. Pakistan played really bad in 2nd ODI but one should really appraise black caps who played magnificently. New Zealand’s strong performance in the last match means series is very much alive and you can not rule them out. Brendon McCullum, whose opening slot was under fire proved himself with authority taking on one of the furious bowling line up in world (that looked rusty though!).

Coming to Pakistan side, there were few decisions that shocked everybody. How on earth you can drop Umar Akmal? Common Younis Khan…turn on the thinking cap dear! He averages most than anybody in current Pakistani squad (49.83) with a splendid strike rate of 95. He could have scrap Salman Butt and opened with Kamran Akmal who did well in this position in CT. I was even confused with batting order in last ODI where every thing looked upside down. I don’t know what Younis was thinking while sending Afridi at number 4, Akmal at number 5, demoting Yousif and Malik at 6 and 7 respectively. Didn’t it look natural if he would have sent Malik, Yousif, Afridi and Akmal in this order. Anyways the experiment proved wrong and cost us the 2nd ODI.

I hope and pray, Salman Butt is ‘rested’ today while U Akmal is included in the squad. Here is the expected team for 3rd ODI for Pakistan:

Younis Khan (capt), Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal (wk), Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Gul, Mohammad Aamer,  Saeed Ajmal, Khalid Latif and Salman Butt/Umar Akmal.

New Zealand have no reason of any changes. Here is the expected squad:

Aaron Redmond, Brendon McCullum (wk), Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Scott Styris, Neil Broom, Jacob Oram, Daniel Vettori (capt), Tim Southee, Kyle Mills, Shane Bond.
