The Drama Ends - Younis Captain Till 2011 Worldcup

by Owais Ehsan on October 19, 2009

Sigh of relief as PCB finally announced that Younis Khan will be national cricket team captain till 2011 worldcup - ending in the process all the rumors and stories which once again derailed Pakistan cricket. PCB didnt accept Younis’s resignation as was forwarded by him when Jamshed Dasti (who BTW should be physically checked if he owns a brain or not) alleged the Pakistani team of throwing match against Australia and Newzealand in the champions trophy.

“I am very happy right now,the faith that the chairman and the board has placed in me again, it’s good to know. The support that I have received from the board and the country through this time has been fantastic. The environment is good right now and I am very happy with it. All that has happened over the last eight months, all the effort is worthwhile now”

So this means, that the rumors that Afridi will take over and seniors from the side are not happy with Younis’s tough captaincy are all down the drains. Afridi however will remain the captain of the 20-20 team. I think Younis got the favor because Pakistan have a lot of test matches in the upcoming season and that too against tough oppositions in Australia and England … and Afridi who is not in the test side made it impossible for PCB to accept Younis’s resignation.

Well i am happy that at least Pakistan sorted out this mess. We have some good youngsters coming in the side like Umar, Alam and Aamer- Thanks to Younis khan who opted youth over experience. Also it remains to be seen how long will Yousaf and Misbah stay in the ODI squad now that Younis has got all the backing from the PCB. Tough days ahead for the middle order, and Younis also will have to improve his performance inorder to command respect form other players.

MYK is the best contender to lead this team in 2011 world champion ship, because of obvious respect and admiration he has claimed through WT20 victory, both among the nation and the players, well, at lest in most of them, media should not fictionalize small issues between the players, as these issues are bound to occur among a group of people which spend so much time together, having said that MYK has to be littlie more circumspect before next time he put forward another resignation.

Good Luck..to MYK and team Pakistan.
