Blogger’s Podcast:The Nonam Show

by Sana Saleem on September 25, 2009

The blogging community in Pakistan is thriving and filled with enthusiastic bloggers, most of whom have been picked up and quoted in the mainstream media.  Growing number of bloggers range from citizen journalist, activist to daily life rambles. For the past year there has been a remarkable increase in people interested in blogging and the blogosphere. Even mainstream media portals have hoped in and acquainted themselves with social networking tools. Dawn for that matter has an entire show dedicate to online activism “Wired and Active” and  the twittersphere has also been endorsed by Naveen Naqvi for Breakfast at Dawn. While the mainstream media has continued its support and interest by not only mentioning blogs and tweets but also calling bloggers up for interviews, bloggers have now come up with their own webcast.

Dr.Awab Alvi and Faisal Kapadia have recently started a new webcast which would be a casual talk show about current affairs. The first episode is up and available. We welcome the initiative and think its a great way of stepping forward and getting views heard to a larger community. Youtube offers a larger audience and most people prefer watching over reading. The best part about the Podcast is its laid back style which is unlike that of the mainstream media. It reflects how a group be discussing current affairs and issues of concern in their backyard. The amusing part is this is exactly how it goes about in the common family or friends circle in Pakistan. To project this to a global audience is a way to give them a peak inside the life and worries of the people in the country. The blogger community is quite diverse and I am sure there will be varying opinions as more people get featured.

This is great initiative. Here’s a thumbs up to both of them! Hope to see more prominent bloggers on the show.We encourage everyone to not only watch the video but also suggest a name for the program and give your valuable feedback.
