The New York Times has come out with a new set of allegations against Pakistan citing un named intelligence sources from the US. According to the allegations, Pakistan has extended the range of US provided Harpoon Missiles and hence made them capable to hit ground targets.  According to Dallas News:

WASHINGTON – The United States has accused Pakistan of illegally modifying U.S.-made missiles to expand its capability to strike land targets, a potential threat to India, according to senior administration and congressional officials.

The charge, which set off a new outbreak of tensions between the United States and Pakistan, was made in an unpublicized diplomatic protest in late June to Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and other top Pakistani officials.

The accusation comes at a delicate time: The administration is asking Congress to approve $7.5 billion in aid to Pakistan over the next five years, and Washington is pressing the Pakistani military to focus its attentions on fighting the Taliban, rather than expanding its nuclear and conventional forces aimed at India. Truck Art & Painting In Pakistan

by Owais Ehsan on August 30, 2009

If you have missed the heavily decorated trucks and buses on the roads in Pakistan — you haven’t been to Pakistan. As a kid, i thought they just came in this form, and never noticed this art at all. In fact any truck without this artwork was something alien to me. Now that I have come close to realize the work put into this art,  I am all the more proud of the artists and painters involved in this beautiful art.

Art in any form is joy to the eyes. In Pakistan there is this great art (known as Truck Art) which has captured the imagination of tourists and art lovers from all over the globe. Its not cheap, its not easy but a truck owner without a truck art is not acceptable in the the Truck Drivers fraternity. This tradition of truck painting in Pakistan has an interesting history as well;

Starting in the days of the Raj. As early as the 1920’s, competing transportation companies would hire craftsmen to adorn their buses in the hopes that these moving canvases would attract more passengers. The technique worked so well that pretty soon you couldn’t purchase a ticket without seeing dozens of beautifully painted trucks waiting to take you to your destination. While the art doesn’t serve the same purpose anymore, it is still as prevalent as ever and has become more intricate and developed a deeper cultural significance over time. (Weburbanist)

In this latest poll, a total of 828 people participated. The results of the polls shows the opinion of the educated Pakistani’s who have access to the internet and actively follow blog sites like ours and hence do not represent the common Pakistani people to a greater extent. Common Pakistani citizens lacks access to internet and hence their opinion might be different from the results of this poll.  Blog sites like Pro-Pakistan are mostly visited by youth of Pakistan and therefore we can say that the results of this poll are mostly based on their opinion. CIA’s Interrogation Probe: What it means for Pakistan?

by Sana Saleem on August 27, 2009

“I was held at Bagram until February 2003. I saw two people killed there. I was stripped naked, kicked, beaten, and threatened with dogs. Interrogators would hold pictures of my wife and children, and ask me what I thought had happened to them, while a woman screamed near by. By the time I, left I was actually looking forward to going to Guantanamo Bay. It was a 36-hour journey to Guantanamo. I was hooded, shackled, ear-muffed and sedated. I was put into a cell at the maximum security Camp Echo. I remained there most of the time. I was in that cell 24 hours a day, except for 15 minutes out of it twice a week. Guantanamo was more a psychological ordeal. I was released in January 2005.” -Moazzam Begg an Ex-Guantanamo Bay detainee recalled his experience while speaking to Tim Reid of The Times.
