Balochistan Liberation Army - BLA - A Detail Insight: Day 2: This is the second day of our research into Balochistan Liberaiton Army (BLA). Our first day of research was about
Today we will see how this organization has expanded and from where it is getting its material, moral and political support. Day 2: Operations and Working of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Its Potential Backers in the Region For any organization like BLA, it is important to have a strong financial system that can support its activities throrugh thick and thin. For the successful operation of BLA, it was necessary to have a strong and sustainable logistical, material, human and financial support system in place. Since KGB was earlier providing all this support in close association with Indian intelligence agency RAW, the new renewed insurgency will require similar backing. However, this time the list of supporters to BLA has significantly increased. The former enemies i. Russian and Americans have become allies and Indians, Afghans and Israeli’s have joined them as well. The result is a very strong and resourceful network of operatives. Since India has traditionally maintained strong local network in Pakistan, RAW enjoys a strong position among the group of countries hell bent on destabilizing Baluchistan. Therefore, as we said in our Day 1, an investigative story by News Central Asia, the first batch of planner and trainers constituded two Indians, two American and an Afghan. They quickly did the ground work and set up the first training camp to start the Balochistan insurgency. According to News CentralAsia story,
These archives were getting dusty but thanks to American interest in the region and to use Baluchistan as a bargaining chip against Pakistan and Iran, the manuals had to be taken out for their possible use.
As we have said earlier, the Americans have their bases in Baluchistan from where they are conducting the Drone attacks. The Shamsi airbase, located around 200 km South West of provincial capital Quetta was first used during 2000 invasion of Afghanistan by the American forces. They later claimed to have vacated the base but the pictures of US Drones stationed on the air base in 2006 falsify any such claims that the Americans have left it. You can find a story by Fox News here showing the US Predator drones stationed in Baluchistan Shamsi airfield. The Americans never left Baluchistan and is using it as a chip in its bargaining with Pakistan and Iran. The Americans have increased the insurgency to remind Pakistan that its support for Taliban will result in dismemberment of its largest province which constitute 48% of its land area. Not only this, Balochistan also accounts for 36% of Pakistan total gas production. Not only this, it has other important natural resources as well. We will talk about it later some day. For the time being, we will focus back on our prime topic i.e BLA. The little background given was necessary to bring the readers in perspective as to why USA, Russia and India are involved in the region. Logistical and Material Support Points for BLA Operations The logistical and Material support for Balochistan Liberation Army comes directly from either Afghanistan or from India. Since these are the two countries that are in close proximity to the province beside Iran, they are naturally the only options available to be used. Moreover, Afghanistan is even closer then India but since the border is very mountaineous, Indian routes are also frequently used. With the increase of new training camps being setup by the agents of America, India and Afghans, the need for more active supply routes become more and more important. It was in this background that Indian RAW services were utilized. RAW was more then ready to support since it was getting a ready made opportunity to bring instability in Pakistan and possibly create another Bangladesh type situation. The NCA reports:
The Kishangarh has a famous Fort, which was captured by Pakistan in the 1965 war with India but later given back to India after Tashkent conference. The area is very close to Pakistan and is often used by cross border smugglers to transport their booty. The smugglers booty was historically clothes and other daily items of use but after the active involvement of Indian RAW in the Balochistan insurgency, the content of smugglers have changed from cloth to light weapons, heavy weapons, communication equipment and propaganda material. The agents and trainers, however, prefer to use the Afghan route. They first travel by air to Kabul and from there they reach Indian consulate in Kandahar. The Indian Consulate in Kandahar coordiantes all the activities inside Baluchistan. The local Baluch people are heavily paid for rendering their services to the cause of BLA. The funding comes directly from the Indian consulates and American bases. CIA and RAW provide all the financing to the BLA, which is actively involved in the insurgency. Accoring to sources, it is commonly believed that an ordinary agent is paid $200 per month while the supervisor is paid $300. Not only this, they are also given special bonuses for successful operations. It is estimated that BLA has a core strength of 2000 members and approx 4000 indoctrinated in the training camps run by the international players. Recently, the army action has resulted in shifting of foreign agents and they are now relying on the local trainers. The local trainers are first trained inside bases in Afghanistan with close support of Afghan government. The approx total monthly cost for sustaining the insurgency is around $15 million US dollars. The yearly cost is around $200 million dollars. Such heavy costs can only be borne by US and India with moral support from Afghanistan, Russia and Israel.
This is the reason that Pakistani intelligence forces were able to take pictures of these training centres along with the Indian RAW agents. Even Bramdagh Bugti, the purported leader of BLA is stationed next to Afghan Palace of Hamind Karzai in Kabul. ISI provided the proofs to the government and the proofs also contained pictures of Bramdagh Bugti, the grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti, while on his visit in India. The Americans have also been informed of the proofs of their involvement and so are the Afghans. The evidence was handed over by Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to Indian Prime Ministere Manmohan Singh in Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. (Click here to view a detail news story about regular Pakistani accusations on Indian involvement in Baluchistan) The proofs were so credible that Indian Prime Minister was compelled to add the Baluchistan issue to the joint statement at the end of the meeting. The Indian cabinet as well as opposition has severely criticized Dr. Manmohan Singh for this inclusion of Baluchistan issue to the joint statement (click here and here for detailed stories) but i must tell you that Manmohan Singh is not an amateur leader. He precisely knew the importance of adding Baluchistan issue to the joint statement to placate Pakistani anger and to save the face for Indians in front of the whole world, if Pakistan disclosed the dossier to general public. The addition of Baluchistan to the Joint Statement was nothing less then a polite acceptance by Indian Prime Minsiter of the nefarious role Indian RAW is playing in Baluchistan. Again their principle tool for all this trouble is BLA. On the request of Pakistani government to the international community to declare BLA as terrorist organization, UK was kind enough to move ahead with a formal ban on BLA as a terrorist organization. However, USA has resisted the move and not named BLA as a terrorist organization. The reason i mention Israel as a moral supporter of BLA is the fact that many BLA offices are operated from Tel Aviv and Zionist community have time and again provided verbal and moral support to the BLA on many international forums. A case in point is this article written by Jewish writer Ben Hayes. In the article titled, “Never Mind Baluch“, Ben Hayes opposes the UK government decision to declare BLA as a terrorist organization and ban its supporters from entering United Kingdom (UK). I think this will be enough for the second day of research and our readers will have now a detail idea of how the BLA operates and how it is funded by different regional and global powers. Until and Unless we don’t get rid of sardari & Jagidari system,we have to face such groups like BLA bcz on their back there would be any Sardar , to save his personal intrest ,this army has been formed and fighting to put pressure on pakistan Govt. to restore its perks & privilages as it was before or may be they want to go little bit more but they have to pay very big prize for their mis-adventure,they had it tried in 70’s also at era of Z.A. Bhutto.
On the other hand Pir Sahib Pagaro is more sencible & patriotic person,he knows his limits ,he never tried to form a govt. inside a Govt. thats why all walk of people respect him regardless his personal life any way he always admits that he belongs to GHQ.

BLA is not terrorist organisation. It is freedom fighter. BLA is not foreign sponsored, it is just product of injustice. We at this movement just want Independence that is due. BLA is just seeking right of the Baluchi people: Liberation.
@Mr Khosa! You have never liberated your own people whom you treat like the herds of cattles and you talk about Independence for your people? It is not anything else but just another way to further enslave the Baloch people. We have all witnessed the way the Baloch people are treated. You make them wash their faces with the water of your drainage and make them think its “Holy Water of Jamna”.
And what proof you can put up for what you claim to be the atrocities of our military? I have provided you documented evidence and even your sponsor state India has accepted the fact that they are helping you both with men and material. So a movement backed by Indians can only further enslave the brave Balochs instead of giving them liberty. Liberty is never achieved by having a separate state because Liberty lies in the minds of the people. You are enslaved by your ego and by your lust for power on the innocent people of Balochistan. You can never be a liberator because for that you need to change your feudal mindset!
I do understand the emotional position of Mr.Khosa,but also MJK is little bit rigid on the topic.Take it to this way,our sardars in baluchistan are very greedy ones every body knows they are fighting to loose all the wealth they have,it would be benefical for coming Baloc generation ,if their tribe kids try to get education,they force them by using different means to do only labour jobs,these Sardars are actual hurdles which opposes an innocent baloch to have education otherwise they will loose their slaves.Our Baloch are so simple & innocent you will adhere to love them ,I’m talking about majority.I have an expereience of it,in 1995 with team of some doctors & volunteers we had a immunization program sponserd by provincal govt. for infants,it was month of july,we visited costal areas of Gawadar & visited many small small “goaths”(village like setting ,consists of not more than 20-kacha houses),beleive it once we went their all children & men were so cheerful some time I had an impression that we were Like Vips,they showed so much hospitability that they would know us for long time ,at least at each village they served us “Lassee”,and one village elder arranged a big “Khanna”.at least I can’t forget those kids which were suffering from polio,kids like roses,once I recalled those moments my hearts pounding a lot

How sad it is that you exert so much energy on who supports it or for that matter directs it, Here is where you fail to understand that the Baloch are not that weak, they know their rights and also know who is snatching them away, its a good tactic that you people always use, of undermining the Baloch and what they are capable of.
Actually you people are used to seeing Pakistan always running around with a begging bowl in its mouth and hence think that everyone operates the same way.
The governing system in Pakistan is the cause of creation of BLA just like Makti Bahni in East Pakistan. There is no merit in Pakistan and afsar shahi, upper level defense and corrupt groups are enjoying in Pakistan. We lost east Pakistan, Baluchistan on the way of seperation and Sarhad is being put on the same path by bombing, operations and making all the people homeless. What we need to do is, to make justice, shares resources equally, see off favoritism, avoid use of excessive military force, negotiate with annoyed Pakistani and decide with the local people to solve their problems. We can save pakistan but we are not doing so and keeping our eyes closed. We spare indian aircraft voiling of space but do not spare killing pakistani who seperated azad kashmir on the call of Quaidi Azam. We can win balochi brothers by sharing sources of Pakistan instead of deciding their fat in Islamabad. Pak army is a tool for defending its people and not for bombing them. The foreign powers is hiring this tool for killing Pakistani. In no way the army should act against Pakistani but the only way to solve their problem is negotiation. The army must differ between Pakistani and those working from out side. It is the government and the army who are giving chances foreign powers to join hand BLA. I have been with Baluchi in Royal Army of Oman (UAG Hospital, Salalah) and knew well their painful life at that time. We left them on back door. They were uneducated, simple and having problems in their social life. There was no school, no hospital , no road in Baluchistan at that time i.e 1981. They had similar complaints at that time but Islamabad continuously ignored the situation. The BLA is active because we have been ignoring them. I am using sui gas sitting in my village here (Attock) but in return they even were taking the patient to Karachi. Baluchistan is rich in minerals, why we do not give more to Baluchistan Province for one or two years to please them or other wise we loose all at all. You can win the people but using army to suppress them can not weak BLA. We talk of foreign powers the reason for formation of BLA but we (the government and the army) are big partener of pushing the people towards BLA. Why we kidnapped baluchi and other people in Pakistan. I think we are still not free. Why our forces hiding the pakistani. They may be punished or hanged OK but why the families are put in painful life for waiting for sons. Those behind of this policy weather any body of govt or forces or ISI is endangering Pakistan. We must negotiate for our problems with our people and should not fly F-16 to bomb them, to make them homeless which we are not doing even with India or USA who are clearly supporting BLA. Where is our ISI if it is aware of this game. I can not forget the role of ISI during the Gen Zia’s time. Where is Pak army whcih fought 1965 war. Are you people to fight your people or to fight with external forces. We should not blame Baloch people for all the sins we are also guillty. In the end, I Ex=Sargent Parvez Akhtar Zia (UAG Hospital Salalah) request my balochi brother to support of beautiful country Pakistan. Our forefathers made Pakistan for us. You may protest to Islamabad, stoned them but do not join those enemy of Islam who want to destroy of NECULAR PAKISTAN. We all Pakistani stand for strong Pakistan. I also request the BLA people , we understand their pains , but for God sake do not act against Pakistan. The country of Musalim Majority. The Muslim country with Neucular Power.
My good wishes are with those from Panjgoor, Buleda, Pasani, Guwadar, Zamaran and Turbat with whom i have been in Royal Army of Oman for twety two years from 1981 to 2003. Be hopeful our young generation who are higher educated and are expected to be safer guarding equally all Pakistan other than the present elder people lived under influence of slavery of British time. You want to protest Islamabad it is your right and may do so to draw the attention of the Islamabad but not on the price of Pakistan. I will say to brothers in Baluchistan to educate your children to enable them to join governing forces in Pakistan. The process is time taking but the best way of achieving powers for serving your province. The foreign power only can use BLA for their own devilish design and they have no interest with the Muslim of Baluchistan as we see in Iraq and Afghanistan. When 27 western forces can unit to fight in Afghanistan why not we under stand to be more united in Pakistan in view of their misadventure being heard in Baluchistan. At the same time, Government of Pakistan and Forces are to change their Musharraf policy, be more friendly with the people of Baluchistan. The people may be screened and treated accordingly with utmost care and not pushing all in one corner. The time is passing very fast and no required attention is being paid to the problem of Baluchistan. We can unite and win the people being friendly with them but not by force as we experienced in East Pakistan.

Aslam Raisani is trying his best to ease tensions among different groups in balochistan,he got more share from Fed for his province,he is in process of dialouge with BLA,the indicator of success would be release of Shahsawar Balouch,who was arrested at karachi airport in 1998 tried to kidnapped a domestic flight on its way from Gawadar to karachi.If President give him amnesty,it would be like a green signal b/w soft section of BLA & Govt.

being a student of international relations i can easily undestand all the satuation and conspiracies in Balochistan.though i am in UK right now but my heart beats for my homeland.i also know bout the expansion of us embassy in islamabad and after that expansion its going to b the largest us embassy in the world, my another big concern is us base in Sehala Police Academy much nearer to their prime target, but my question is what the hell this Govt is doing out there?i would like to ask them being a pakistani whn we see the development and progress in every field of life we wish our country to b like this but when our leaders come here they cannt see why their hearts dont beat for their country?actually we need a ‘True Leadership’ we need a ‘Khalid Bin Walid’ n Muhammad Bin Qasim, i also beleive in the capabilities of our intelligence agencies but they really have to workhard and more focused.plus we have to reform our police.
Dear I haider as being a IR student you should know about the position of Mr.zardari &co. they are helpless to solve their own involvemnet in swiss case & other fraud cases.As we all know our army is fulkuram of power & also they are close allies on “war on terrorism”,so it is very easy to understand “who is who”.

We have no dearth of traitors in Pakistan and who for the sake of a money are rendering the security and independence of Pakistan at stake. This include a number of politicians who support such moves. We need to expose all such activities in our talks and thoughts to those who are unaware of such moves.
when C-130 was waiting to deport AQK to usa,and musharaf asked PM Jamali sahib to sign the papers or resign ,at that moment a Patriotic Baloch stands still on his principles to resign from his post rather to sign the papers to transfer custody of AQK to usa.Pakistani Nation can’t forget that piece of History that “Ehsan” of Jamali Sahib.May Allah give him prosperity & health to our true leader & his generations to come.Ameen.
