US Terms Swat Deal as Human Rights Violation

by MJK on April 15, 2009

The US administration thinks that the recent Swat deal is a serious violation of human rights and democracy. According to the story in The News,

“WASHINGTON: The Obama administration is objecting to the approval of Islamic law in a frontier region of Pakistan on human rights and democracy grounds.
President Asif Ali Zardari has approved implementation of Sharia in a mountainous portion of the rugged Northwest Frontier Province.

Asked about Zardari’s decision, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the administration believes security cannot be introduced with “less democracy and less human rights. The signing of that denoting strict Islamic law in the Swat Valley … goes against both of those principles.”
“we’re disappointed that the parliament didn’t take into account the legitimate concerns around civil and human rights.”

I wonder how can they interfere so much into the internal matters of an independent country? Did they ever thought to check their own record on human rights violations? What they have done in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghuraib? What they have done to the 8000 plus Pashtuns in Afghanistan, whose documentary evidence is also available? Have they ever dared to check how many million people were affected because of their greed for oil and the resulting invasion of Iraq? What about the weapons that they provided to the terrorist state of Israel to kill the innocent civilians in the neighbouring countries? The targetting of UN base in Lebanon was also done with the US weapons and the killing of several hundred children in the last war of Gaza was done with the full support of Americans.  If they were not ashamed of these acts, they are bold enough to ask the Talibans to negotiate with them for a peace deal in Afghanistan and since the Taliban slapped them on their face by rejecting all their present and future offers for negotiations, Americans started calling Pakistani deal as a threat to democracy.

We give a shit about the American style of Democracy because we believe in our local solutions for our local problems. The Americans are trying their best to allow their new found ally India to use Afghanistan to destabilize Pakistan and now they are telling us that the deal in Swat is human rights violation.

I think unless Pakistan closes down the American Consulates in Peshawar and Karachi, whose sole purpose is to pump money into the hands of anti Pakistan forces to destabilize our own country, we will not be able to get rid of their undue interference. It is right time that all the bloggers bring into light the fact that the American consulates should be immediately closed down and the staff at the American Embassy in Islamabad should be reduced to few important people. The aid should be channeled through local NGO’s and government organizations instead of direct American involvement. The USAID is mostly used to fund the covert CIA agents in Pakistan, whose only job is to fulfill the American desires for the region and we know America is soley interested in destabilizing Pakistan and remove its nuclear weapons from it.

Let us come out to Close The Den of Spies in the Form of American Consulates in Pakistan
