Unless the government allows the true implementation of Shariah law in the valley, there will be a justification with the Talibans to create havoc in the life of the ordinary citizens. This will also has a serious destabilizing effect on the overall situation of the country. Implementation of Shariah law is a double edge weapon as it can also be used against Taliban since they violate it more often then the security forces and normal citizens. I wonder what is taking so long for the government to implement the law and use it to curb all the illegal activities in the valley. The Shariah law is followed through out Pakistan except for the mode of punishments, where we use the British system. Therefore, its implementation should not be projected as a draconian law. The law give equal rights to women and minorities and will ensure their safety and security in the scenic Swat valley. It will again be open to the tourists that once frequently visited it. I wonder if our media and blogs will play any positive role on this matter? Related Articles |
The timings of the video of flogging of girl in Swat and its repercussion are leading in a dangerous direction. The peace camp set up by Mulana Sufi Muhammad has been scrapped in protest of the delay in implementation of Shariah Law in the valley. The news will not be taken positively by the people of Swat who fears that it might lead to the eruption of hostilities between the government and Taliban. It is worth mentioning here that Mulana Sufi Muhammad has not blamed provincial government of ANP for the deteriorating situation and he put the blame of federal government. The outbreak of hostilities between the security forces and local Taliban with strong relations with foreign factors will create serious law and order situation as Taliban has effectively used the time to regroup and rearm. They have also taken the time to rest and silently remove the hurdles in their complete rule over the valley and adjoining districts.

No there won’t be. They may thing they are justified, but slaughtering your fellow Muslims as they did before removes any tenuous moral high ground they might once have had.

Its true. They do. However I’d love to see any judge take on an armed band who have a different interpretation of it, see themselves as its implementers not as subject to it as others, and who are at the end of the day a well armed cohesive group able to bring out contradictory rulings and enforece them with guns. Since their campaign was in no way compliant with any mainstream form of Sharia, why would they suddenly change after they win?

Nopes its not that the army was not crushing them but i think they did right in giving peace a chance. Moreover, we should also not ignore the ground facts where huge amount of sophisticated weapons and money is channeled into the area from the hostile neighboring countries. The interesting fact is that Americans are silent spectators and until they become sincere to the peace in the region, they will themselves face the consequences. We know that the rag tag Talibans can never face the armed forces of Pakistan and mere two brigades are more then enough to crush them.

As a muslim I beleive to live under complete Shariah Law is my dream.The things which are restricted no to do in sharia are good for a common man to secure his family and then society from being harmed.
