Pro Pakistan has lodged a peaceful protest against Wikipedia to remove the pictures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from their website. We believe that depiction of such pictures hurt the religious feelings of Muslims around the globe while their actual display do not help the readers in any manner. For this purpose, i started a petition at PetitionOnline. I am amazed that the petition has become the top petition at the site and the numbers are increasing at a very fast rate. We will use all peaceful options available to us to request the Wikipedia team to understand the feeling of 1500 million Muslims around the world. With mutual respect and peace, we can make the world a better place. As of writing of this post, 27665 people have signed it. Please share the petition with as many people as possible so that we can let the sensible people in Wikipedia understand that they are hurting the feelings of Muslims with this act. I am sure they will understand the situation and remove them. To sign the Petition, please at the following link Petition to Remove Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) pictures from Wikipedia. Update: The total signatures have crossed 32000 in just few hours. May Allah reward all those who take out time to sign it. Let’s hope that others realize that we Muslims surely lodge our protest against such incidents peacefully and expect to get a positive response. In case our requests are ignored, we will be greatly disappointed in the judgment of the concerned people at Wikipedia.
Dear brother Mr. Khan,
Al salamu alukum wa rahmat Allah. First of all, thank you very much for drawing our attention to the drawing of the supposedly the image of the Prophet Mohamed, peace and prayer upon him. And thank you for the petition motion.
I fully agree with you that posting such a drawing on Wikipedia is very inappropriate. I fully support the collection of signatures to remove this drawing. However, I would like to propose a re-wording of the petition in order to make clarify our point of view as Muslims to people who may not understand why we are objecting to publishing any “supposed†image of the Prophet Mohamed, peace and prayers upon him. Let us remember that the Christian World is very familiar with drawings of the supposed Jesus Christ and his Mother. We need to tell them something about our culture as Muslims.
Please consider the following re-wording of your petition,
“The undersigned appreciates the fact that WiKipedia has published an article about the Prophet Muhammad, peace and prayers upon him and upon all the earlier messengers of Almighty Allah. Such articles, when based on facts and presented objectively, contribute to building a global culture of understanding, appreciation, and tolerance of other religions and cultures. However, I would like to draw the attention of Wikipedia managers to the fact that in the culture of Muslims, it is not permissible to draw a picture of or make a statue of any of the Prophets and Messengers of Almighty Allah. While this culture is partially based on respect to all the Prophets and Messengers of Almighty Allah, the prohibition is intended to ensure that no statue or picture of any of the Prophets and Messengers might become worshiped or given a sanctity that would contradict the principle of monotheism or the worship of Almighty God (Allah) ONLY. Allowing people to draw pictures of Prophets could open the door for presenting these Prophets, who should be respected, mocking comics, such as the ones that provoked Muslims from around the Globe not long ago.
For this reason, I request Wikipedia to remove the drawing of the supposed Prophet Mohamed, peace and prayer upon him. Your respect to our Muslim culture and traditions would nourish a much needed culture of tolerance, diversity and co-existence and would allow all Muslims to feel not inhibited to use Wikipedia.Thank you for your understanding”.
I hope this proposed text would be agreeable and you can consider using it to replace the one attached to the petition.
Once again, thank you brother for your initiative and care for Islam.

Dear Brother Munir,
I did check this but there is a small problem as the site will not allow me to change the wordings as it is against their policy to change a petition once it has been rolled out. The reason is that those who signed it already may not want to sign it with the new set of words and hence the petition loses its legality.
I hope you will understand. That is one reason, i created this blog post to clarify the whole thing here. I completely agree with your point of view and majority of our signatory have similar views as you have and inshAllah that is our true message.
Thanks a lot for dropping by and keep raising your voice on this issue in a peaceful manner.
By the way the Petition got 42041 signatures. Since yesterday 10,000 new signatures have been added mashAllah
Assalaam-u-alaikum Brother
I hope that you have a look and check each comment and signature. I was going through some comments and came across this one: 181. Iamagainstthispetition No one should say his name either. He is to be referred to only as “whasshisname.” Alternately he may also be referred to as “Aysha’s rapist.” Remove all images or references to muslims everywhere than no problem and alot of peace
Astagfirullah. When we are trying to be constructive to prove to the world that we are not extremists and terrorist, people are still very narrow minded and don’t want to see otherwise. Only Allah can open the hearts of people and only He can close it. May he shower his mercy and blessing on the Ummah of the Prophet (S.A.W). Ameen.

Islam is Peace .
Dear Mohammad Ali,
I current petition has also crossed 1 lakh and 10 thousand mark but i think Wikiepdia authorities will not yield to the peaceful requests from a large number of Muslims around the world. I wonder what else they expect us to do?
They have given a reason that the issue of pictures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is even controversial among Muslims and i think if they have this thing in mind, why dont they run a voting on it among Muslims as well as non Muslims of the world and i am sure everyone will respect the feelings and religious beliefs of the Muslims and request Wikipedia to remove them.
In case they still don’t do it. I think i will know one thing that their mission statement mentioning the word “Neutral” does not make any sense and they should remove it.
Wiki is biased. Not from today but from a long time. You only have to check some of the wars where Islamic countries are involved to see the wording used is always against Muslims. Since I realised that, I have stopped clicking on their links and visiting them. There are many alternatives, and I just dont clik on the results when I search for something in google if they are from wiki.
.
Junaid brother,
Can we have a similar page / topic to ask Muslims/people to boycott wiki completely as what is the point of supporting a system that is only going to sting ourselves unfairly and wrongly?
