During World Mobile Congress, Nokia has disclosed its new mobile phone N86, an 8MP (Mega Pixel) camera phone. This is the first time for any Nokia mobile phone to feature an 8MP camera as LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson have already come out with their 8MP phones. The Nokia N86 is similar to its predecessor N85 Symbian phone except for the 8MP camera addition. Nokia N86 is a sturdier model with metal casing. There is also a kick stand so that you can perch the phone on your desk. The N86 comes with the Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, dual LED flash, autofocus and a wide angel mode. Not only this, it can also capture 640×480 video at 30 frames per second. The camera has a mechanical shutter up 1/1000. The camera can adjust itself to low light conditions by an f-stop range of 2.4-4.8. N86 comes with a super-bright 2.6″, 320×240 OLED screen. It will have a built in memory of 8Gb extendable to 16GB with a micro SD card slot. The phone is 3G enabled phone and features 2G EDGE and WiFi. Other typical feature like FM transmitter, TV out port, A-GPS and stereo Bluetooth. It also has GPS and Nokia Maps, digital compass and geo tagging.
Keeping all the above features in mind, i was wondering if cell phones with camera are becoming a threat to DSLR cameras? I was not surprised to know that Carl Zeiss representatives said that the N86 8MP will not rival DSLRÂ but it will help 95% of the compact users will still find the quality and performance adequate for their requirements. I wonder why Nokia didn’t come out with the touch screen option in this phone. Anyways, the dual sliders makes it easy for its usage as camera phone.
Finally the Nokia N86 is expect to be shipped in June, 2009 with price of US $ 473 or Pakistani Rupees of Rs. 37000.

waow nice phone. The color scheme seems to be influenced by N79 or N82. Considering its features especially 8 MP camera and OLED display, the price seems to be very reasonable. As far touch is concerned – the upcoming N97 (i guess) would be a fully loaded and a functional touch screen phone.
