Ufone has launched a new package named “Daily Unlimited SMS Package”. The package is really cheap and its mechanics really help the customers in the sense that it remains valid for just 24 hours or when the sms limit is reached. The details of the package are given below.
Ufone Daily Unlimited SMS Package Details:
Price: Rs. 2.99/- + Tax
Total SMS Available: 500
Effective Price per SMS: Rs 0.0059
Validity Time: 24 Hours or when total SMS are consumed.
Activation Code: SMS “Sub” to 605
Example: Send “sub†in an SMS to 605 for subscribing to Package
The customers have to renew their subscription every 24 hours. This has dual benefits to the customers as they are no more required to unsubscribe from the package after they are done with their sms. Secondly, on special occassions like Eid and Valentines day, people will activate the package for just one day. It will result in removing the usual spike in the VAS revenues and decrease the ARPU. Anyways, lets see how other operators respond to it.

• Standard rates apply to all SMS sent to the respective ShortCode.
• These offer do not include Premium SMS OR International SMS.
• Validity of the Daily Package is 24 hours from the point of the subscription.
• To check remaining free SMS & expiry date you can send blank SMS to 606.
• Fair Use Policy is applicable, up to 5,000 SMS.
• 21% FED on usage and 10% withholding tax at recharge or bill applies.
I personally believe that this package will get a response from other operators since it is moving the fundamentals of the market. Other operators have to respond to it in order to remain competative in the market and not to lose substantial number of customers to Ufone. Lets hope that after the 30 second pulse war on voice calls is not repeated here in the sms deal.
