National Security Council Scrapped by PPP Government

by Crackerpotato on February 24, 2009

It is not uncommon in Pakistani politics that every successive government scraps what their predecessors have done. This might be one reason that our beloved country has not changed much in the last 60 years of its independence. The same feudals are governing us but they keep changing their faces. Sometimes they wear the PPP shawl and sometimes they wear the mask of PML (A, B, C…X, Y, Z).  What ever their outlook is, they all have one thing in common and that is their feudal blood and soul.

Today the PPP government scrapped the National Security Council (NSC), which was an effort by Musharraf government to bring harmony in differnet powerful organizations of the country.

Moreover, it was also a platform which would bring together all the major stakeholders to one place to make decisions about important national and international matters. The same is done in any case when all our important personalities meet and discuss important problems. Abolishing this institute is important or the number of other important issues that our public face in their day to day life? I wonder when our leaders will come out of revengeful politics and start working constructively for the benefit of our people.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday that the government had decided to disband the National Security Council (NSC).
Talking to journalists here, prime minister said the Ministry of Law and Justice had been directed to finalise arrangements in this regard. Gilani said Pakistan Muslim League (N) was told that further talks on the issue of restoration of judges would be held after President Asif Ali Zardari’s return to home.
The PM said he wanted the supremacy of parliament and would not like to see any political destability in Punjab. He said the PML (N) would not support lawyers’ long march if the deposed judges were restored. Source: The News International
