Shoe Thrown at Wen Jiabao at Cambridge University, UK – Video

Wen JiabaoAfter the successful episode of show throwing at Bush in Iraq, some copy cat tried to replicate it in UK expecting to get some cheap popularity out of it. The irony is that he failed to get such a response as was given to the Iraqi shoe thrower Muntazer al-Zaidi. He instantly became a hero since everyone hated Bush.

The case of Chinese president is very different since those who threw show at him are just one group who are anti-China and followers of Dalai Lama. It is a big lobby actively backed by Western governments to keep making trouble for Chinese. Dalai Lama was awarded Noble Peace prize by the efforts of the same lobby and i wonder why such prizes are only given to those who speak against the enemies of the West lead by US, Britain and their close allies? The response given by the Chinese president and his security team was also very different from that of American President who tried to jump here and there like a chimp to avoid the barrage of shoes. The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao just looked at the shoe and his team of security people very calmly approached the stage to remove the show unlike Americans who are too obsessed with Hollywood movies.

According to TimesOnline:

A protester threw a shoe at Wen Jiabao, the Chinese Premier, today as he delivered a speech on the global economy at Cambridge University. Mr Wen was coming to the last part of his address when a young Western-looking man with dark hair stood up, blew a whistle and shouted: “How can the university prostitute itself with this dictator? How can you listen to these lies?” The man, who appeared to be in his early twenties, then took off his heavy shoe and threw it at the stage missing the Premier by a few feet.

“Stand up and protest, you’re not challenging him,” he shouted in a European accent as he was bundled out of the room by security staff. Mr Wen then reprimanded the protester as more security guards moved on to the stage before he finished his speech.

“This despicable behaviour cannot stand in the way of friendship between China and the UK,” he said.

Two video clips of the incident are given below. Look at the premier and his response to the indecent act by a minority who wants to disintegrate China to fulfill the dream of a small lobby of anarchists.

My cousin who goes to the same uni said that the students who participated were “VERY CAREFULLY” slected !
I wonder what the selection crieteria was:)
Him and his chinese friends said that they dont even recognise the student who threw the shoe. May be they brought in a “specialist” (who still missed BTW)…LOL…

Another funny thing was western media talking about human right abuses, but so far I still await the details of this every time they use these words. On the other hand, Indian govt sent a written complain to the British govt complaining about Milliband who merely asked India to do something about human rights violations in Kashmir (details of which are present all over media).

What is Pakistan’s official stand on Tibet –

a. It is China’s internal issue and we will not meddle.
b. The people of Tibet have a right to plebicite. UN/US should monitor HR violations in Tibet.

Now juxtapose the response to a similar qn on Kashmir.
I rest my case.

A small disruption can generate a lot of excitment…this is how human being act. Dalai Lama is very political, just like lots of other religious leaders in history.

He was just making sure that it was made in China.

Raj,
Your words: “Now juxtapose the response to a similar qn on Kashmir. I rest my case.”
Well you have looked at one side of the picture here, EXCEPT
1. That the question is being asked by an Indian here in hope of sympathy for the Indian stance for a dispute on which they have already suffered defeat.
2. Tibet is not a dispute between Pakistan and China.
3. And now just consider the stance that India takes on Tibet region, and the disputed territories between India and China. And also consider how India harbours and supports separatist terrorists like Dalai Lama, and provides him “protection” in India, whenever he wants to get away from China !!!

Any one would think that India out of all the countries would really understand how Pakistanis feel about the general human rights violations, rapes, and murders of Kashmiris, as they seem to be in a similar situation on Tibet……..
BUT may be too much to expect from Indians right??????

Since you already rested your case, I hope the above was enough words to show you the other side of the coin, humans are all humans, and if you feel that HR violations in Tibet are bad, you just need to compare the situation in Kashmir, and see what Indian army is doing to what they declare as “Indians”. It is not without a reason that Kashmir has the biggest civilian to army men ration (1 civilian to 6 army men)…obviously Kashmiris themselves are not dying out of the LOVE of India,,,,but it is something else thats killing them….and you know it fully well too…..
