Islamic terrorism

by Asima Awan on January 12, 2009

This American political analyst’s views represent the thinking of a significant portion of the American popoulation. It is unfortunate but true that the word ‘Muslim’ is being used synonymously with that of ‘Nazzi’. Just the sentence ‘I would rather have their (Muslims’) civilians die than ours’ is an extremist statement.Where are the moral values of the world’s oldest democracy? This analyst is advocating a ‘bigger’ war as if Afghanistan’s carpet-bombed mountains and Iraq’s bleeding deserts weren’t enough. The interviewer rightly points out that this may cause young teenaged Muslims to grow up into terrorists but perhaps many Americans consider that to be unlikely.

They think that destroying the whole society that has a few of those ‘monsters’ a

ka ‘freedom-fighters’ would solve the problem. Notice the pride in the analysts’ voice when she admits ‘We (Americans) killed more people in Japan than we did in both Iraq and Afghanistan’…is this an analyst coming from the Global police i.e. USA? Who will stop this terrorism?

For a change, the world should consider this entire ‘terrorism saga’ from Muslims’ viewpoint as well, it is an oxymoron. A uniformed pilot of B-52 bomber pressing the button and striking havoc among the innocent civilians below is as much of a ‘terrorist’  for these people as the bearded men’s photos that the international media show to the world. This is not to advocate the ‘bearded terrorism’ but to unveil the ‘uniformed terrorism’ that is even deadlier. The Americans and the world need to realize that every human life on the face of the earth is equally precious. Let’s not get into this vicious circle of killing and being killed regardless of whoever instigated it in the first place. Otherwise, the picture of the world would continue to be sad and sadist. Americans will keep funding Gaza’s death through their tax money and Muslims would keep considering it their right to fight back. Is this a healthy solution? War is never a solution; the end of one is the beginning of another.

Stop funding Gaza’s death, leave Iraq and Afghanistan and we can then hope for the Muslim freedom-fighters to respond in the same spirit! It almost feels naive to even suggest peace, doesn’t it?
