Pakistan cricket is known for its controversies, and the latest one to come out of the hat is related to Pakistans biggest Super Star Shahid Khan Afridi.Â
KARACHI: Seasoned Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Friday slapped a young fan following a match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and could end up being penalised by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Afridi, 28, lost his cool after a youngster became too insistent to get himself photographed with his hero and slapped him as several other spectators watched in dismay.
According to eyewitnesses, the young fan — who could not be identified — repeatedly asked Afridi for a photo opportunity soon after the cricketer returned to the dressing room at the end of the opening day’s play of the Habib Bank-PIA match here at the UBL Ground.
According to sources close to Afridi, the player turned down the youngster telling him that he wanted to say his prayers.
However, the youngster continued to insist and ended up in tears after Afridi slapped him.
“I was a big Afridi fan,†sobbed the youngster. “But not any more. He doesn’t deserve to be my hero,†he said before leaving the ground.
However, Afridi denied slapping the fan. “I didn’t slap anyone. There was this guy who was chasing and pushing me for an autograph. I just pushed him away,†Afridi said.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan Test pacer Sarfraz Nawaz took a swipe at Afridi and urged the Board to take action against the all-rounder.
“He (Afridi) has set a bad example by hitting a fan,†said the outspoken Sarfraz. “He is an international cricketer and should have controlled himself,†he added.
Sarfraz alleged that it is because of the lenient approach of the PCB towards its star players that they are behaving poorly. “The PCB is also responsible. It decided to let go players who broke discipline and were even caught for doping. That is what happens when you don’t punish the culprits,†he said.
“No I didn’t slap anyone. These reports are not true. I have never misbehaved with spectators or my fans in the past everyone knows that,” Afridi said.
“ There was this chap who kept on persisting that I give him an autograph and I told him I am going for my prayers and I can also give the autograph tomorrow. But he kept on annoying me and I tried to push him away and my hand touched him but I didn’t slap him,” Afridi said.

This is not fair afridi doesnt slap any one he cant do this !!!!
I’m Convinced with this new that Afridi did slap a younger fan.
We have seen same type of attitude in past from our Buzzurg Crickter Imran Khan, who hit a fan at karachi stadium in 80’s.After that he lost his love from karachities.
At that time during any national match,we experinced to heard an up roar of a slogan from spectators, once imran khan had started running from his bowling start point towards batsman,” Zeenat Aman Ka Eak Hee Bhai ‘Imran-Bhai’ ‘Imran-Bhai’.
Once a person who was hero of the City and pride of a Country got this type of respect.WHY? Because actions Speak.
Now it is upto our Heroes,What they Want ? Respect or….
“Ezaat Doo —-Ezzat Loo” ,very simple.
I have heard this first time, but i think the fame can make any person PROUD ( Muthakabar )ANd may be afridi did it. but we can tolerate such heros which never respect their country man.!!!
