Please Sign The Petition: STOP THE BLOODSHED IN GAZA (Worldwide)

After Gaza’s bloodiest day in recent memory and eight or more years of ineffective US and global diplomacy, we need to get world leaders to do more than issue statements if they’re to ensure a lasting ceasefire.1 Through the UN Security Council and other international bodies, the world can provide the help and pressure needed to stop the violence and change the situation on the ground in Gaza — preventing the rockets and incursions, re-opening crossing-points under international oversight so that instead of weapon-smuggling, the 1.5 million ordinary people of Gaza can get the fuel, food and medicines they so desperately need.

The conflict continues to dangerously escalate — endangering hopes of a swift end to the humanitarian crisis that’s already seen over 370 killed and thousands injured. The answer lies with the whole international community actively intervening to mediate peace between Israel and all Palestinian parties. Now we must raise our voices even louder to get the needed action. Over the coming days, we will increasingly use the numbers signing the petition to advocate for a ceasefire, and you can help increase those numbers.

All sides to the conflict will continue to act as they have in the past if they believe that the world will stand by and allow them to do so. We mobilised for a ceasefire in 2006’s Israel-Lebanon war and succeeded, but this time the international community must not delay — let’s raise a truly worldwide outcry. 2009 is a year that things can be different. As we face this crisis, and the possibilities of a new year, it’s time for us everywhere to work together to stop this violence.

This petition will be delivered to the UN Security Council and key world powers, urging them to act to ensure an immediate ceasefire and address the growing humanitarian crisis — only with robust international oversight and action can civilians on all sides be protected and real steps be taken toward a wider peace.

  1. Humanity is dying.

  2. Yups and specially when it comes to the treatment meted out to Muslims but then i also feel that it is our own fault. The moment you divide yourself in casts, sects and position, you become weak and that is what is done to the weak in the so called Jungle world of today.

  3. Moderator Note: The name changed to Hindustani. In case you want it to something else, please let us know and we will change it. We are not trying to discourage anything here but moderation helps the discussion to remain on track and avoids getting personal.

    @Junaid
    Being a Hindu, quite honestly I have read the Koran (not fully) and it is a great philosphy. I have high regards to Mohammed who united so many nomads and got them to beleive in the Islam way of life. Dont blame yourself, you are on the majority of Muslims who can think beyond. You can sqaurely blame some Mullah’s (minority again) who interpret the Koran to suit their selfish needs and propogate violence to some kids. The problem is not limited to Islam alone it is present in Hinduism, Christanity and all other religions, we as educated people atleast need to look beyond this and work to a better society.

  4. to my pakistani friends… i mean no offence but do u seriously think any online petition is gonna change a thing?

  5. 2k, its just to show solidarity, but yea, it wont help an inch.

    Yea petition signed, will reach 250,000 within a day or two. Hopefully there is another petition to Hamas to stop Qassam rocket attacks on poor innocent Israeli civilians for all of us to sign too.

  6. Petition signed.

    @2k,
    I think its a Chinese saying: “Every ocean starts with a drop”.

    Yeh looks like its been signed very fast and the numbers are increasing.
    BTW do you know how many Israeli civilians died from these rockets that’s were fired to fight against the illegal occupation of Palestine by Israelis?

    @CreamPuffs
    Extend a friendship arm and I will extend twice that, extend enimity and I will forgive you.

  8. To Moderator: I appreciate ur efforts keeping religion out of this, but kindly note i never belittled any religion. i just commented about Hindustani masquerading as a Hindu (after his fervor against that faith earlier and cross posting as a muslim in another topic). Thats all there is to it.

    Moderator Note: I really appreciate the fact that you understood our concerns on the above matter. Moreover, this forum is not a religious website and hence if you have any specific questions regarding Islam, please visit the website of Islamic Research Foundation http://www.irf.net.

    To Hindustani the masquerader: u see, there is a difference of understanding regardless of how you and I look at it: Palestinians (and the Muslim world) look at Israel belonging to the Palestinians, which has been ursuped by Jews. Jews (and the rest of the world) look at Israel as rightfully belonging to the Jews and recognise its existance. so if palestinians use force (by using rockets) against “illegal” occupation of Israel (based on their opinion), then Israel can reasonably use the same logic by using “force” against those who fight against their “legal” occupation of the land. And thats what they are doing! It is very simple: if palestine use force, israel will react in the same tone and we know who will be the sore losers. so if muslim world condone shooting Qassams into Israel, then be prepared to hear news of palestinians dying / gaza wrecked. if palestinians encourage their loved ones into shooting Qassams into Israel, then be prepared for their death. as simple as that. Because Israel will react. And israel will always react 10X greater: less than 10 israelis died from hamas rockets and now almost 450 palestinians have died already. so first step is for muslim world (OIC) to talk some sense into hamas and their cronies instead of crying when the pot bursts.

  9. (from above)…either that or gather some guts - form a coalition from Islamic countries and storm Israel. Afterall we have a muslim country with nuclear weapons and a better equipped army than the rest of the Islamic world (Pak). Add in Iran, Syria, Egypt and surely they can initiate something? but yea, it would never happen. so lets just sign petition, the best we can do.

    You wrote: “i just commented about Hindustani masquerading as a Hindu (after his fervor against that faith earlier and cross posting as a muslim in another topic)”

    Moderator Note: I understand what you mean. I just checked and can confirm that the first “Hindustani” is not the same person as the NEW “Hindustani” and even their IP address show two VERY far country locations. Also the email addresses entered are totally different.
    Obviously the “NEW Hindustani” didn’t like something the old Hindustani said, and hence tried to use his/her user name to confuse people (successfully as it seems).
    It is more apparent in this thread:

    .
    When leaving comments, any name can be entered, including “CreamPuffs”. Our apologies for the way it is working at the moment, and I can assure you that we are working on improving this method.
    Hope the situation with two “Hindustani” nicks is now clear.

    .
    New “Hindustani” who posted this message above,
    “Being a Hindu, quite honestly I have read the Koran (not fully) and it is a great philosphy.”

    Moderator Note: I can understand if you didn’t know someone else is also using the same nick, but you do now, so please post with another suitable nick
