A Glimpse Of Pakistani Blogosphere: Islamabad Bloggers Meetup

I happened to attend Islamabad Bloggers Meetup. Although I couldn’t attend the whole of it, reason being some personal issues, but a little part of it. The crowd there made me to rethink that it’s Pakistani Blogosphere. And most amazing thing was the talent there, very active and inspiring.

The positive side of the event was not only what I mentioned above, but also the event itself, as we need such platforms. When I joined the event, it was Badar Khushnood speaking, and his insistence was to blog and monetize. I liked his words, “If you yourself don’t need money, then give it to charity”. And we really need such idea to work.

I couldn’t stay there till last moment, but till then what experts shared, was not too impressive I think. It was good for bloggers at very threshold, but since a good number of bloggers were there who have been blogging for quite sometime, and for them it could have been more impressive, according to a little survey I did.

Overall it was a very good effort and so, we expect some more events like this!

Here’re few pictures of the event:

  1. I really enjoyed the event in general, though one thing that bothered me a little was that the main draw seemed to be the monetary aspect. The main aim right now should be to get passionate bloggers together and create a genuine interest in blogging. The money will come naturally.
    Thanks for posting the pics.

  2. not just coz am a karachiite I think the Karachi bloggers meet up seemed a lot better,more interactive and professional a judging by the look of it :P

  3. @Sajjad
    I agree with you on following your passion and money will eventually come in.
    One thing which I would like to see is the follow up activities after such meetups. If you are not seeing many blogging on mainstream, then I don’t know how one can benefit from such meetups. Just my two cents.

    I missed IBM08 due to my schedule and can’t wait for the next one.

    @Sajjad

    Totally agree! But I think, since it was the first event of its kind in town, so the monitization oriented approach was probably to attract the audience!

    @Sana
