Remembering our Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah

by Owais Ehsan on December 24, 2008

Pakistan will celebrate the 132nd birthday of Quaid-e-Azam Mohmammad Ali Jinnah today , 25th of December. At this moment in time, we must rememer what Quaid-e-Azam wanted from this great nation. Rather than writing about my own views and explaining what Baba-e-Qaum wanted Pakistan for, and how it should have been governed, its better to listen to his own words.

“If we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous we should wholly and solely concentrate on the well-being of the people, and especially of the masses and the poor… you are free- you are free to go to your temples mosques or any other place of worship in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state… in due course of time Hindus will cease to be Hindus and Muslims will cease to Muslims- not in a religious sense for that is the personal faith of an individual- but in a political sense as citizens of one state” Jinnah, Aug 11, 1947.

How must the New Pakistan be governed?

We must work our destiny in our own way and present to the world an economic system based on true Islamic concept of equality of manhood and social justice. We will thereby be fulfilling our mission as Muslims and giving to humanity the message of peace which alone can save it and secure the welfare, happiness and prosperity of mankind” opening ceremony of State Bank of Pakistan, 1948.

How the great leader highlights the importance of Women in our society?

“o nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women are shut up within the four walls of the houses as prisoners. There is no sanction anywhere for the deplorable condition in which our women have to live”. March 10, 1944

How can Pakistan lead the way?

The prosperity and advancement of a nation depend upon its intelligentsia, and Muslim India is looking forward to her young generation and education classes to give a bold lead for our guidance and a brilliant record of historical achievements and traditions. Islam expect every Muslim to do this duty, and if we realise our responsibility time will come soon when we shall justify ourselves worthy of a glorious past. December 24,1940.

Message to our students and intellectuals

I particularly appeal to our intelligentsia and Muslim students to come forward and rise to the occasion. You have performed wonders in the past. You are still capable of repeating the history. You are not lacking in the great qualities and virtues in comparison with the other nations. Only you have to be fully conscious of that fact and to act with courage, faith and unity. March 23, 1943.

About Islam and Pakistan

Come forward as servants of Islam, organise the people economically, socially, educationally and politically and I am sure that you will be a power that will be accepted by everybody. Lahore, 1940.

You have to stand guard over the development and maintenance of Islamic democracy, Islamic social justice and the equality of manhood in your own native soil. With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve. Feb 21, 1948.

Now its desperation time for us, economy in turmoil, security situation not good, Political set up laughable,  our enimies confident and our brothers distant. What would have our Great Quaid told us to do in this situation? This very last message is to our leaders, our forces, our students, people from all walks of life. I am sure his response would have been in the following manner.

“My message to you all is of hope, courage and confidence.

Let us mobilize all our resources in a systematic and organized way

and tackle the grave issues that confront us with grim

determination and discipline, worthy of a great nation”

Pakistan Zindabad, Quaid-e-Azam Paindabad

We the team of Pro Pakistan Salute our great leader. He truly deserves it as it is because of Allah and brave leaders like him that today we are living as a free nation. He was a man of character and not like our current leaders who prefer to live abroad and keep their bank accounts abroad. We all know how much wealth he left after his departure from the world. He is truly leader of the century.

thank you for providing these citations of a great politician of pakistan. I think you are right, he was the kind of revolutionairy leader who’s inheritance by those in power can only be squandered. It is the synthesis of human rights and the appeal of justice in religion that makes me think so. The last remark is very motivating (perhaps coincedentually) to me personal, however, the reason
for that is it goes for any nation. In that sense the patriotism may be of another era. Somehow that idea stays, that patriotism is only a tool of the imperialist world ordre. Yet the politician needs the power of a people united ..
It is a great compliment to pakistan that thoughts like these worked her independence.

Talking about Jinnah - the founder of Pakistan.

Jinnah House in Mumbai was Jinnah’s India residence. This is where he met his wife - young Parsi girl Ruttenbai who he married after she turned 18. Jinnah was 41. All is fair in love. This house has a log of gistoric significance to Pakistan and India.
