Ufone has launched Ufone EDGE USB Modem with an unlimited 6 months free postpaid/prepaid package. The service is ideal for those people who require continuous access to high speed internet and are also mobile. The Ufone EDGE USB modem will fulfill their requirement of “Internet on the Move”. This service will be operate on the Ufone EDGE/GPRS/GSM based network available through out Pakistan.

After I buy it, how do I start using the Ufone EDGE USB? Do I have to install it first through an installation CD?

You can simply plug & play the Ufone EDGE USB in your laptop/desktop PC (in the USB slot). The Operating System automatically detects and recognizes the new hardware when the USB is connected and starts the automatic installation wizard for Ufone EDGE Modem application software preinstalled within the device. You just need to follow the prompts of the installation wizard.

After the program is installed, the shortcut icon of Ufone EDGE Modem program is displayed on the desktop with Ufone Logo. Every time you connect Ufone EDGE USB to your Desktop PC/Laptop, Ufone EDGE Modem application software is launched automatically. You can also double click the shortcut icon on the desktop to launch Ufone EDGE Modem application program. Also for your convenience there are predefined 3 Profiles available as Ufone Prepay, Ufone Postpay and Ufone Umail. I have GPRS activated on my SIM. Can I use the same SIM in the Ufone EDGE USB?

However Ufone still gives you the liberty to use any other Ufone EDGE/GPRS enabled SIM. Does it work offline, even when Ufone connectivity is not there?

The Ufone EDGE USB does not work offline. You should have to be in the Ufone coverage area to use mobile internet or send/receive SMS etc.

What are the conditions of replaceable warranty for Ufone EDGE USB?

Ufone offer 6 months free replaceable warranty to its valued customers. Warranty voids if:

	Ufone EDGE USB is physically damaged, opened or broken.
	Ufone EDGE USB Modem is burned, broken or soaked in liquid etc.
	Purchase Receipt (Proof of Purchase) CSAF of DATA SIM missing.
	6 months passed from the date of purchase.

Salam guys,

I am using Ufone Edge service.

Ufone Edge service is a complete cheat. They are deceiving their customers.

They claim that the downloading speed will be around 60-150 kbps but actually it is 10 kbps average.

When I called the call center they are saying that it will be location problem.
They are also not giving any satisfactory answer.

I would not recommend any one to use Ufone Edge.

I think I have wasted Rs.7000 and now there is no way to get it back.

Salman u r so idiot they r prividing a ’236kbps” which means that maximum downloading speed would be 23.6 kbps it is impossible that the speed would exceed!One should have a proper knowledge about the object before spending money on that specific thing.

Hi, this is good inovative step in the right direction but one thing that stings me is its price. I mean after six months I have to pay much higher rates so because of this this thing I believe is destined to fail.

I haven’t tried it yet but it seems to be good. If any one is giving internet facility at 1200/- per month with out any cable, its good because we will be safe from the illegal bills of ptcl cost much more than just a line rent such as hidden local calls more than 300/month. so i think if you are getting a network connection for 6 months in 7000 its good provided that they should have to change their rates of downloading per mb and ofcourse the upload speed should not decrease than 32 kbps minimum… “With complimeents”.

be senseble if you r not a ufone tout.tariq has informed people in good faith and he is perfectly right.
u-fone edgge modum is totally cheat and their services are compremensive cheat centres.
my prepaid usb (i paid Rs 6999l-) for getting so called six months free package but it has started giving me error no. 619.
i am complaining to the high fi and descent sounding on line customers services agents but they r complete goofs never giving u the right information. they r liers and cheaters. they r torturing and looting their customers.
god save us from these looters.

hi guyes i live in murree and i am a student of VU …. i have freezed my semester cuz lack of internet facilty i am using zong internet its gud to use at phone but not at pc… i am damn tense what to do as i have stdy at internet ……. zong doesnt open web pages they get hanged…. now some are saying tio buy ufone some to but warid and some are saying to buy telenor…..i just have to download my quizez and upload themmm is ufone better for that??? i want to use ufone from my phone via usb to pc??? will it b working or its just like zong???? plz help me

Pro Pakistan June 30, 2009 at 7:15 pm: Hay Hafsa! Thanks for your message. Actually, EDGE has a specific speed limit so it won’t go any faster no matter which network you use. Having said that, the speed of EDGE is also dependent on the network and the amount of people it is catering in that area. Ufone has recently focused on Murree region and i am sure their service levels will be better then other networks but still it is something that you can not judge directly. May be someone living in Murree gets a good speed since the tower catering him has less load as compared to another person being served by a different tower with heavy usage. So its a very subjective thing. Overall, i prefer Ufone.

Hey Every one,

I recently bought a USB EDGE MODEM device and i also bought a UFONE sim to access the internet via this USB MODEM.
I requested to Ufone Customer Care to activate the GPRS on my Ufone No. They on it, Also i have requested them several times to send me the Ufone GPRS setting to use with Edge Modem device for Laptop. But i didn’t get any setting from there side.
So is there any one who can help me out for UFone GPRS setting to use with USB Edge Modem.

I’m quite satisfied with Ufone EDGE service, as I got 22kbpas in my area. Zong also delivers same speed to me, but it has disconnecting problem and makes my handset restart.
