England tour of India was partially called off earlier due to the Mumbai attacks. ECB sent the team home and two needless ODIs were scrapped in the process. But they opted to come back for test series, while some of the English media wrote that the team wanted Presidential level security for the rest of the tour.

English Cricket team flew to Abu Dhabi for practice session with actual tour still in the balance. Kevin Peterson and his men headed straight to Sheikh Zayed Stadium for nets on Friday. Meanwhile England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) managing director Huge Morris left for Chennai (India) to assess security conditions for the first test from December 11, he would also visit Mohali where match is to start on December 19.

English team got 5-0 thrashing by India in ODIs with last two matches cancelled due to Mumbai attacks. Now KP and his men have two fronts to look after, the fear of terrorism & spinning wickets of India where so called formidable Aussies stumbled, once ECB decides to resume the tour. Nevertheless it’s a blessing in disguise for KP’s men to face inform Indian team, as they also can put the blame of their defeat to lack of concentration due to fear of attacks.

One common concern; if the same thing would have happened in Pakistan, Srilanka or Bangladesh would ECB resume the tour? With out going in to details of politics and history, the answer is definitely No, why such discriminate behavior? If we want to see the beautiful game of cricket grow and turn in to global sport like football, we have to keep the politics out of it and play the game like true sportsmen whether we are on the field or off the field.
