As new student of MBA in Cecos university, I think Cecos is the best in IT and Management sciences inspite of having limited resources. Acording to a Reserch Professor, “tudents of Cecos will compete or equal to the students of prestigious Institutions such as Lums,IBM and IBA etc.”

where did dow university of health and sciences vanish under the health and sciences category?!
People are confused or not happy because they dont actually know the exact weightages.
Maximum weightage is given to ‘Research’, which is hardly done in a very few universities. Thats why PIEAS is at the top in Engineering ranking.
In Bahria, there is hardly any research and same is the case with FAST-NU , from where im studying. Though studies are very tough, strict grading, but we know that we hardly have research centres.
The ranking of COMSATS will improve in few years, because i think they have hired alot of PHD’s and have new equipped labs and have started research in their new campus.
Names of few universities is missing, people should check the HEC website for comlete rankings.

I think that HEC Should adopt a procedure by taking some kinds of tests and competitions also and that should be included in Ranking score.

Hi,i m Adeel from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (Islamabad Compus).I just want to tell you guys one thing that my university have the best faculty of engineering after Nust university in Islamabad.though it is not in top 13 bcoz it has not yet it own compus in Islamabad as it is under construction and will be ready in summer 2009 & you will see MAJU in top 10.
Comsats should be at top level becaz of its marvellous faculty & facilities.it is one of emerging engin uni in pakistan.

nust should be at the top it offer the program like aeronautical engineering its mecatronics engineers win the robatics contest in JAPAN it publish over 200 research paper in a year it stand at the 376/30000 universities in the world non of the other PAKISTAN,s university do have the same. its only one campus in islamabad is the biggest one in the ASIA about 57000 thousand students appear in the entry test in 2008 it is about 4 times the students appeared in UET LAHORE test PIEAS only offer the MS programs and GIKI is black listed in the EUROPE and in USA CAE NUST(college of aeronautical engineering)come second in the world for its aeronautical studies.
i studied in pieas,i joined recently pieas from university of sargodha.here learning enviourment is very much impressive and the behaviour of all the faculy is really appreciable…and there is no other material engineering departement which have so wide range of labs work and highly skilled faculty… and here whole cream of pakistan is present.and all teachers have so impressive learning.

IAA is highly developed, offering Avionics, mechanical, aerospace and avionics. Just see the labs of Air university u will feel yourself in heavens
look guys.I guess u need to get a grip.all of u.every1 hesre is praising the university dat they cme from.but lemme tel u da reality.i am a CFA,PHD and have served at the visiting faculty of many a public n pvt sector uniz in pakistan.and as far as I think,no pvt or semi private uni shd be ranked here.bacoz as many of my colleagues and I have observed,these pvt uniz are just earning bad reputation for our country and its educatioal standards internationally.People and academics at foreign university openly criticize our private uniz for not havng proper transperency during the addmsn process,for admitting non deserving candidates who(they persume)are not gud enuf for public sector universities.They also maintain that these pvt institutes are inaccesible to the non elite.DONT GO FOR ANY RANKINGS.these rankings are now considered vry misleading everywhere.U ppl,WE PPL,need to underrstand a universal principle..that internationally ppl recognize public sector universities,and they have dont percieve students from pvt uniz favourably.I have heard many pofessors saying that degrees are sold for money at Pakistanz pvt uniz.And M afraid I have to agree.I myself have studied both at public n pvt and foreign uniz.and also taught there.N I think stdnts at public uniz have the will to study and prosper.My bro is a victim of dis.HE DID HIS ENGG N mba FRM pvt uniz,and oxford refused him on those grounds.those ppl value QAU,PU,KU and UET..mch mre than u think.So plz.all my bros n sis here.prefer public institutes.in pakistan we r movng towards a dangerous trend,which is costing us internationally.Promote ur public uniz,remember.THEY STILL HAVE DA MST PHDs,MOST SCHOLARS and BST TEACHERS.dnt waste ur time money n energies.u ppl dsrve btr.
I am currently serving on the board of a foreign research facility,and lemme tell you..we are 100s of people from about 50 nationalities there..and all of us harbor the same thoughts and sentiments..and there are more docs here than on the board of any of uniz in Pakistan..today the standard of education in Pakistan has gone down alarmingly as compared to the past.and HEC is doing a horrendous job.It is just aiding the growth of good-for nothing pvt uniz rather than aiding more public sector uniz.The only pvt institutes that are serving us a little(N I PURPOSELY SAY A LITTLE) are IBA khi(semi govt),LUMS and COMSATS(jst engg..although it has earned us enufff bad name over that japanese aid fiasco)..army operated institutes(wont name em..all of u knw..n i apologize 2 the stdnts there)..are lukd with dire contempt everywhere..some countries have even banned there graduates…plzzzz..get in2 the P.U’s,the QAU’s,KU,UET,BZU,NED,jAMSHORO..THESE ARE THE NAMES THAT HAVE N STILL ARE EARNING US NAME..AND QUALITY EDUCATION..I have had enuf of the comments dat “pvt uniz offer bst quality of education”..DAT IS WRONG..UTTERLY WRONG..I wont visit again..bt thats an advice 2 all of u young generatn..of whom I am also a part.BYE.BST OF LUCK

Dear Friends, HEC is the organization which provides funds to all universities. And according to international rules, no organization is capable of ranking a uni which indulge personally in the uni’s programs.
Hence HEC cannot make such decision. Its totally injustice to many uni’s. Their procedure of ranking is not so good and its not according to international qualities.
Any organization than HEC can accommodate such surveys if it is not directly linked with the uni.
It is matchless…………no need of any reason……….

as far as PIEAS is considered it has only 1 faculty at the undergraduate level.
NUST does not come even close to GIKI in terms of LABS,EXTRACURRICLAR ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS. GIKIANZ are the highest paid engineers in pakistan.

who knows which is best uni in Pakistan, becuase its not the degree who represent you its you who represent your degree, I have met many student of good uni in Pakistan and i got one thing common in them, no partical approch at all, this is not due to our uni or teachers, its due to those bastered who are making polices, if you look around and you will find the childerns of our policy makers are not in Local uni they are in Uk or USA for qulification, why? anyone of us ever think about this, if not why? becuase our thinking is limited for money and job, due to this bad system of education? I have read the views of my respective brothers about the ENGG. Universities of Pakistan , some prefer GIKI , some say that NUST is the best and some are in the favour of PIEAS but I think that Fast ( National University of Emerging Sciences ) in the Feild of Telecom Engg. , as its Labs are well furnished , its faculty is the Best and it has a very precise atmosphere for the students. So it is the Best of best universities of Pakistan !!!!!

i cant believe u people can be so irresponsible and emotional. all i’ve seen so far is my uni is best all others r crap. hello!! does any one of u realize none of paki uni are among world’s top 1000 unis??? that’s not because we’re not talente. that’s cuz we fight among ourselves by STATING that we are the best and NOT PROVING by DEEDS and research material that we actually stand somewhere!! moreover, research here is mostly cut copy paste as i have seen. i am not generalizing this. but a lot of students do that. i dont care wut they do. they can all go to hell! my point of stating that fact is that our work is NOT quality work. our teachers are those people who have no practical experience (in some cases) and then there is the problem of wrote-learning. moreover, i dont understand why we are not allowed a wide choice of electives?? i am from one of the top 5 business uni mentioned above. i’m starting my 4th year in sept 09 and my cgpa is 4.0. anyone wana beat that? i am in top of my batch. i am not out of the world. there are people in my batch who have cgpa less than 2 but they are extremely smart. however, if you’ve gota compete, there are different kinds of competitions. you wana compete in smartness on the international forum, get into the practical field and show it. you wana excel in academics, it’s gota be PhD faculty and research material and facilities, and of course the value for your degree…it’s time we start thinking as a nation, as a Pakistani rather than a luminite, ravian, gikian, or whatever! please dont be a jerk, get up and face the sun… it’s time we contribute something real to the world rather than being jerks and saying my uni is best and all others are worthless…that only shows where ur mentality resides: in the pit of bleak future, nothing else…

Either go for IBA LUMS or else go for public uni like KU B/c only these are the places from which if you obtain a degree these degrees are accepted easly not saying others are of no value but talk practicaly there degrees are of value in pak and also abroad( in degrees ko koi khol kar nahi dekhta par agar private uni hay to they expect you to be extremely good ) seriously think about it if you sit in a multinational firms office for interview and you tell the that u r a Mehran uni graduate they’ll say where the hell is that…………

Sara, to be honest, brand counts alot… and the best brand at the moment is NUST out of the choices you have. Its just not brand their business school has matured alot and has a strong alumni base as well. So my recommendation would be Nust business school. A few years ago and i would have recommended Fast or Islamic.

Please stop calling your university the best university in Pakistan. I guess it is about time we realize what are the flaws in our educational system and what needs to be done in order to bring it back on the right track. Although graduating from a reputable institution does matter in Pakistan, specially when one is hunting for a job, but in the end one has to prove his own mettle, regardless of the university he has been to.
And somebody mentioned that there is not even a single Pakistani university in the world’s top 1000 universities, i’d like to correct that because NUST was at number 400-something in 2007 and then leaped to number 376 in year 2008, according to Times International ratings.
P.S. I’m a student of Mechanical Engineering from NUST and i’m NOT saying that my university is the best. I’ll let the research papers do the talking.

i think the students are very skillful and knowledgeful, so islamic international university is the best university of the pakistan in engineering field.
i totally agree with many of my friends who have declared that COMSATS university is just a name, being the student of COMSATS abbottabad i can assure you that teachers are not experienced and intelligent, no good techniques or methods of teaching, there are good laboratories in university but you will not be allowed to even touch lab instruments. abbottabad has a very dull and upset surrounding. if u come at here u will be feeling guilty of your self. so don’t join comsats. try ur future some where else.

I WOULD TO LIKE TO REVEAL SOME FACTS ABOUT THE WORST GIK INSTITUTE
1. It is a dead horse— its faculty is now just normal like UET Peshawar or UET Taxila. It’s original reputed faculty has left the campus as they were not being paid properly. Many members of GIKI Faculty are now serving at FAST, MAJU, UET and Bahriya.
2. It is a primarily a riche’s only institute [ and by-the-way it is not a university it is just a small institute ]. Only 1% of Pakistani parents can afford to pay RS 3 LAKH as tution fee and RS 5000 as hostel monthly mess etc charges.
3. Institute lies far from any civilisation. Lahorites & Karachites can’t afford easily the travel expenses every 2-3 months.
4. Institute even charges hidden dues which are not declared at the time of getting admission.
a] Summer School Fee upto PKR 75000
b] Institute Bus Fee [ that picks and drops students from bus terminals at Isl Rawalpindi } PKR 500 PER ROUTE
c] Monthly heavy mess charges PKR 5000
d] Convocation Fee PKR 50000
The above charges are other than PKR 3 LAKH as tution fee.
5. Institute is located in a village having no civic amenities. It is a small town TOPI of Pashtoonkhawa.

Actually this ranking criteria depends upon many factors like Faculty, Students, Research and Facilities. Some of the guys left their comments about FAST that the research is negligible there.

Teachers are appointed and promoted based on how good they have relations with management. No proper classes and labs for students, teachers are always interested in politics and to get promotions. For Example Mr. Mahmood Ashraf (everyone knows that he was appointed as a lecturer in CS dept without selection board in 2005), When the Chairman of the dept and his teacher point out the misuse of Govt. 30 million funds. Mahmood Ashraf became the nut of management and put a bogus case against Dr. Ansari. In the investigation drama, Dr. Zahid Saleem and Dr. Noman Jaffery act as members, unfortunately both of them were involved in corruption and misuse of funds. They decide to black list Dr. Ansari based on his own work (as he supervised Mahmood Ashraf), while Dr. Ansari were on ex-Pakistan leave (and we lost very good teacher). As a reward Mahmood Ashraf is promoted as a Assistant Professor.

Asif you didn’t even mention that out of three authors Dr. Ansari was the 3rd author and he is the only black listed faculty member, not the other two.. how funny it is. What is the credibility of HEC after this case. Anyway Mahmood Ashraf get paid for what he and management planned. Including myself many other MS/PhD students are taking guidance from Dr.Ansari via video conferencing, email and online chat, even he left Pakistan and settled in Canada. Even after that his student(Mahmood Ashraf) cheat with him he is still humble as he was before. GOD bless him.

hi friends sorry to say that hec ranking is not satisfied, im in paf-kiet karachi and doing MBA in 2nd semester but paf-kiet in at 8 no in HEc ranking. i think paf-kiet is the best and most reputable institute in pakistan it should be ranked at top 5.

Hi, I am lawyer did LLB from Urdu College. HEC has no right to Black List faculty member. Also there are many questions behind the investigation. Who select the investigation committee? What about their biasedness? As mentioned in BLOG that to get rid of Dr. Ansari they use Mahmood Ashraf and then promote Mahmood Ashraf as a Assistant Professor even he was not properly selected as a lecturer… I believe same will be the case in all other blacklisted faculty members. It is also surprising that few of them are blacklisted but at the same time their name is under investigation list. I am ready to go in a court of law for these faculty members, and I can prove that HEC has no right to blacklist anyone. Parent institute can take action against the person commit plagiarism.
Last question: how many countries blacklist their teachers????????

Ask faculty to do more but not giving the faculty a break. Proof will be forwarded to Chief Justice of Pakistan.

That’s right Bilal, I am lecturer in Urdu University not promoted even I fulfill the criteria… not only me there are many lecturers fulfill the criteria but they can not be promoted as Assistant Professor unless until they got good JACK.. like Mahmood Ashraf . He become Assiaitan Professor but everyone knows he was appointed illegally as a lecturer and now promoted as AP even he doesn’t fulfil the criteria of HEC. Mahmood Ashraf has done BCS from AlKhair (Allah Khair University). This thing can not bring Pakistani universities even in top 6000 universities . Just go on Google and check is there any Pakistani university in top 6000 (yes Six thousand) universities of the world.

I am little bit surprised to see that most of the people comment about COMSAT, NUST, UET, BZU GIKI but not a single person comment about GCU lahore. Well its a university as well now (with self supporting program. Having high dues, less facilities, giving no rights to students,having relative grading to bound a student not to take admission next time any where…)
But still No doubt Ravions have their own charm. Being a student of GCU i am really disappointed for such a low ranking score. But healthy competition among universities of Pakistan must be kept on..to increase the level of education.

pieas has started BS MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING.I have got the admission in BS mechanical engineering and i think it is the best Engineering institute in Pakistan .It has very high leveled faculty.Most of faculty members aretoppers in their respective field.Their is no concept of romance like things in pieas .If any student wants to get admission in pieas he shoul;d work hard because thetest of pieas was very tuff.hope for the best.
I think this is real and correct ranking. I have done my BBA(Hons) from FUUAST Now I am doing MBA fromLUMS. I find the difference. You people will find real picture when you all will be in real life. Love the country work for it where ever you are. We have to compete with the world….

Actually All universities are best, the thing i would like to share with u is that HEC ranking is not based on the standard of education. It is based on physical insfrastructure, resources aval at university and R&D work of university. So U can’t say cat-A university is best or cat-Z is lowest. I like to mentioned here that a student ALI RAZA of virtual university of pakistan developed a real time desktop Flex based software and his name is On flash and flex web site. He also wrote an article published in an international magzine. So It is the efforts of any individual which makes the university best.. Only Degree never guarantee u a good job. U have to prove Ur self… Good lick

I am currently studying in PIEAS. Here the faculty is very friendly and you can go to their office any time to ask anything.This uni doesn’t hesitate to drop students so you have to study alooot.This uni is no.1 because this is the only uni in pak where alot of research is going on.PIEAS rocks and it deserves to be da BEST…
Well well.. i think ppl here have got a lot of misconception abt GIKI Life. I am a Gikian (alumni now) and I can proudly say that nothing like “free mixing ” of boys and gals is allowed in GIKI. No doubt we gikians r more confident and more liberal but we do have laws to follow, which are strictly enforced. If u dont believe in me, come n have a visit to our univ. Well if u talk abt few “bad fish”, wat I can say is they exist everywhere.. not just in GIKI. You will find them in every insititue. so u cannot say overall the environment of GIKI is bad. no way. I have studied there and I dont belong to a high class modern family.. ask me! i come from a family with values and I can proudly say I found GIKI a very ethical and decent place to study. No doubt we have entertainment nites and movie nights etc. but no1 force u to go and attend. if u dont want you can stay in ur hostel room and concentrate on ur quizzes and mids. Its only u who can prioritize and balance among studies and co curricular activities. I hope I can clear the doubts from many minds

I thing hec should visit the universities first and than they made the ranking of universities. I personally think that National university of Modern Languages and sciences (Numls) should ranked after Uet, Fast , Nust and comsat. I request the Hec to thing about Numls ranking because it is a good institue of all field especially languages ,engineerig && It and Management sciences.

Pretty surprised the thread is still active and to people who think the rankings are incorrect. The rankings are not based upon the popularity of the university but what it has been producing in the last years, which include the published research papers and the no. of Post-Graduate students that pass out every year.

I think KIET, IQRA and IBM are really close in the race if we observe the graduates.. and as far as the rankings are concerned, graduates are the most important point that matters and we definitely are getting better day by day..

Although Federal Urdu University was not very good before .. but now it become worst in Pakistani Universities under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Qasir (VC) and Dr. Qumar ul Haq (Registrar)… Islamabad campus is almost closing because of the policies of Dr. Zahid Saleem (Incharge Islamabad Campus)and Dr. Nauman Jaffari (dean Electrical Engineering) … students and there parents are not interested to even apply for FUUAST… In Computer Science dept .. this year only 4 students took admission.. I feel sorry for those students… As I am graduate of FUUAST and now seems that I wasted my 4 years… ALAS

Govt. must close the Islamabad Campus of Federal Urdu University (FUUAST)… conditions are worst here… no classes… teachers are teaching outside as visiting not in the university.. Management is corrupt… Dr. Zahid rob money from university funds… Ministry must take action about this… and also check the status of other similar universities
