Aafia Siddiqui Termed Mentally Unfit

by MJK on November 18, 2008

The US judged has now termed Dr. Aafia Siddiqui as mentally unfit and hence not eligible to stand trial. This is a major setback to her case as she will not be able to face justice and even if she gave any statement telling the world the truth about the torture she went through, no one will believe her as officially she is mentally unfit. This is nothing more then a typical intelligence drama played by Americans intelligence agencies which control almost all Free America. It is they who distorted the facts to conceal their true barbaric faces from coming into the public and hence labelled the very person who is MIT educated as mentally unfit. I wonder how can the world believe the lies of the so called champion of Human Rights sitting in the United States of America? I even feel pity for our rulers who term her as their sister because they have ruined the whole relationship of brother and sister by calling Aafia as their sister. If that is how they treat their sisters, i am sure no one would ever dare to think of becoming their sister and i feel pity for their blood sisters.

Time will pass by and Aafia will also be forgotten in the short memory of Pakistani nation but i am sure conscience will prick us all someday as to what we did when Aafia was tortured and assaulted by the Americans, whose morality and ethics can be clearly seen from the pictures of Abu Ghuraib Jail.

We the Pro Pakistan Team initiated a petition for her release which can be found by clicking here. The petition is currently signed by 1650 people and lets make an effort and spread the word. Let us all tell the world that we will never forget our Pakistani citizen and will fight for her release.

NEW YORK, Nov 17: Aafia Siddiqui, the Pakistani woman suspected of links to Al Qaeda and charged with trying to kill American interrogators in Afghanistan, is mentally unfit to stand trial, according to her psychiatric evaluation.
Aafia Siddiqui, 36, is “not currently competent to proceed as a result of her mental disease, which renders her unable to understand the nature and consequences of the proceedings against her,” US District Judge Richard Berman said on Monday while reporting the results of the evaluation.
Berman ordered a hearing on Wednesday to discuss how to proceed with Aafia’s case, including the possible use of medication to treat her.
Her arraignment was delayed after Ms Siddiqui refused to submit to a strip search or cooperate with prison doctors. Defence lawyers and prosecutors both argued the frail-looking woman should undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Human rights groups had declared Ms Siddiqui missing for five years before the incident in July, when she was arrested outside the governor’s office in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province.
Her lawyers have said she may be a victim of torture and believe she was kidnapped with her children in March 2003 in Karachi and secretly held in custody for the past five years by either Pakistani or US authorities.—Reuters

well, an emotional appeal, and although i agree, without the rhetorics, it doesnt serve her cause enough. I very much agree with that when she wishes she has a right to have a trial, altho u haven’t the faintest what it is about, it sure hasnt been in our western media afaik. So unless she was caught wandering screaming armed and shooting at phantoms i don’t see how they could refuse her a trial, even mentally unfit you have the right to be represented before court for claims etc etc. so to find jutice and undo injustice, I hope it will happen taht way. It is also in the hands of eg.(..) your government that can adopt any policy towards this case or any number of remotely comparable cases (perhaps they have an agreement). My critic on your text is that by defying logic you undermine your argument, for example you refer to the photos of abu graib as a completely solid proof ms. aafi is tortured, i suppose you are right she is, but what you say doesn’t remotely count as proof. There are definetly pictures of people abused by police in pakistan (though they are usually harder to make …) i don’t say it is a proof teh pakistani police treat every suspect badly no matter the circumstances.. why would I?

By God, this is going to happen one day. I am an Indian. After reading about Dr.Aafia, I can’t resist myself from crying for her. My heart is still paining to read about her. Now onwards my deep prayers will be for the complete destruction of this disgusting companions of the Devil, whoever is involved in this dirty game of torturing the innocent muslims like our poor sister and all the rest of them being caught and tortured.
