A protest is the act of making a strong public expression of disagreement and disapproval. Precisely to show disagreement to something in ‘particular’. The purpose is to send out a message in bold that ‘we do not accept‘. Since the news broke out about the ‘American attacks’ on Pakistan, talks of protesting were out in open. We witnessed ‘Sarmad khurram’ registering his protest in a way he thought was best. Some of us appreciated him praising him as a ‘hero’ , while others called it a publicity gimmick. Everybody had an opinion on how to protest but very few went out to express it. I wouldn’t want to comment on what he or anybody else did , well simply because I myself did nothing so what ever anyone else did was obviously better than me,of course.
Something is obviously better than nothing . So this phase of realization urged me to do something at least, anything. The beauty of a majority is the providence of ease in delivering a message. While one man strives hard the majority joins in to facilitate the process.I don’t believe burning tyres, blocking roads or calling out for strikes is the answer. How can something destructive end up getting us constructive results?. So what do we do ? we utilize our energies to do something we know we are good at. If all of us who knew how to write could post, email, or fax letters addressing every single media platform in Pakistan , it would make some impact at least? it SHOULD.
I pledged to take things positively even in troubles. The honest me is helpless in finding positivity in current circumstances, while the patriot is insistent. So I will utilise the ‘over exaggerated’ media of ours to register my protest, I need you to join me simply because ‘numbers speak volumes’.This perhaps is my way to seek answers on ‘How do we protest?’.There is always something we can do to register our protests. Lets be selfish for this momment. After all we don’t wish to live with the guilt that we did nothing while our country bled at the hands of brutality.Let’s pave way for a voice that cant be snubbed , a voice that reflects our pain, suffering and most of all our CONCERN. Lets tell the world that ‘ WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS,NOT TODAY NOT EVER!‘.

We will only accept Jalauddin Haqqani and other terrorists using Pakistani soil to work on plans to bring down the world?
obviously not :) that is most condemnable !! Even more than American attacks , I did write a post on Taliban a while back may be reading that would help. The nortious Pak afghan border has given rise to such insurgencies over the years. But Pakistan arm forces are fully capable of fighting this battle it OUR battle to save OUR country from those who have not only occupied but cultured terrorism in our country. The American action will only ignite the issue further , we need to combat it ourselves :) . Thank you for reading and commenting and being regular on our site !
Yes Sana, I’ve read that post but I didn’t know it was from you. Somehow I don’t see your name anywhere on these posts and I’ve begun to recognize your style only now. I don’t know whats wrong, maybe I have browser issues.
And your site is great, by the way… you’ll realize I usually argue only to heat things up and don’t mean harm. I get kicks out of being the devil’s advocate.
(Oh and I plan to begin blogging quite soon too so I have been regular on a few top blogs just to see how the ‘in crowd’ is doing it)
You’re right the US attacks may complicate the situation but from what we’ve been reading about the Pakistani military’s operations in the Tribal Areas, it looks like the Taliban have the upper hand. Especially in Bajaur.
It’s a war in the end, if we shelter one party, the other party will attack us! There are no ethics involved, don’t you think?
glad to see u here too , ur most welcome to join us here at pro Pakistan and start ur blogging experience here. We are a team of people with different backgrounds and perceptions about things together to create a platform which reflects thoughts of a Pakistani, the more of us the better. So that is that as far as u recognizing my writing style is concerned I really appreciate that and wil take it as a compliment. Other then that about the attacks and afghan strategy is concerned things aren’t as they always appear. I think to understand what how the enemy works u have to start thinking like him , no one has a stronger likeness to these ppl than us. The roots of talibanization runs deep, so that’s that , as far as US attacks ate concerned they might be gud in combatting militancy but also be great in breeding a lot more all around the country. With America in hand there is a huge gear if massive collateral damage which is considered relatively lower if the other end is Pakistani millitary. To get aquinted with American progress with millitancy one can easily see the living example of terrorism sprouting evrywhere. Obviously it is not all America’s fault but yes poor policy making and negligence in preventing collateral damage is of primary focus.
Maybe it is frail but it seems one good way of protesting the attacks would be to protest the exageration of activitys on afghan soil. The afghan conflict from the very start had the aspect of tribal refugee’s. Certainly the occupation will not have promoted great unity, and the problem had a humanitarian aspect always. What is so completely ridiculous of northern pakistani people supporting afghanistan in that way? These people hardly ever live in the digital era like we do.
It’s really not that simple, it was rather predictable that more or less problematical developments on the caucasus would happen early,(1991) the refugees etc. logically followed. There is a spectrum of opinions between a prorussian attitude in uzbekistan and alienating the uzbeki from the rest through facilitating cultural bias, what the west would, even if that would mean promote an islami(c)st movement. For not to get beaten up at a protest it sometimes helps to inform the press efficiently, and it is also nice to have good lawyers ready, for the arrests. that will usually still follow. The media are essential for protest, wich is the reason protest should be allowed to be of sufficient impact to indeed draw the coverage it “deserves”. The terrorism argument is often illegitemate , the consequences of war, exploitation (and eg. pollution) on human lives apparently don’t yet draw the coverage they deserve (whence it had stopped). otoh when by firing a warehouse , or smashing the windows of a bank you can make exactly the kind of statement that you like, you are lucky. (be creative, i sang, burned babydolls, loved tresspassing, hated fences, strongly supported every kind of action that was aimed at openess of information, be curious, i have always had good experiences with original pamflets, be solidair, and don’t start offering apology’s after tho.. you want to change the world, not to remain it the same(1)), i think occupations of institutes are a very legitimate and effective means that for example should draw media attention always.
I am not against strikes very much, especially not when the represented interests overrise the area of the strike. I dislike when political plays would ruin an economy through strikes, it’s to good a tool tho, to let go ever.
Personally i don’t expect the next social development will arive from the labour unions, but i could be wrong. There is continued effort.
(1)I am not talking the kind of ’sorry my flower pot fell on ur car during the protest’ apologies. in one instance activists had been lifeguarding goldfish untill police mutilated activists(think they got away tho) and goldfish (who didn’t survive this dedicated attempt) and blamed the protesters.
That’s right Sana, preventing collateral damage is the primary focus. And it’s also true that the US foreign policy has been encouraging terrorism.
The attacks in Pakistan are made by the US and not the United Nations-sanctioned International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). We we can pursue this issue with the US, but will have to understand that the whole world supports the war on terror in Afghanistan. We can get away with a Jalaluddin Haqqani training camp with the US, but we cannot fool all the people all the time.
About blogging on propakistan, it sounds like a pretty decent offer to me despite the fact that I’m looking at setting up some theme-based blogs focusing on a niche or two where I can dominate.
Who can I talk to to know more? Is there a way I could have a brief conversation with someone about this, and about what the traffic model for Pakistani blogs is? Will my posts here have to be exclusive?
we strongly protest against these cowardly attacks of US terrorist military force on our land Pakistan. We seriously should take action against it and show that we will never bear such terrorism in future
The main issue is of democracy in pakistan if the democracy became stronger than the dectatorship every type of attack will be automatically finished, demolished in pakistan
Ihtesham welcome to Pro Pakistan. Its amazing to see your comment here. I agree that democracy do seems a good solution but in a country like Pakistan where majority of our population is illiterate, i think we cant totally follow democracy.
