Tax Imposed on Luxury Items or Basic Items?
|
I was reading the report appearing on the local media that additional tax has been imposed on 350 luxury items and i knew right away that it won’t be devoid of stupid mistakes so i thought lets look at the list of the luxury items. So here are your luxury items: 1) Toasters (if you burn in on the traditional Tawa its not luxury but using toaster makes the toaster luxury. 2) Microwave (Eating hot food is considered luxury in the PPP government) 3) Furniture (Sherry Rehman wants us to sit on the floor or is that some important member of her party owns major local furniture business) 4) Fruit Juices (even drinking fruit juices is considered luxury by our government..) 5) Fixed duty of Rs. 250 on Mobile phones The list goes on and on and even includes tv, chewing gums and so many more items and hence you can find the detail story by clicking here on the Dawn article. I just wanted to inform our readers about the mentality and thinking process of our rulers who will proudly display the mineral water bottles on their tables during their meeting while they consider it a luxury for the rest of the country. |

oh cmmon. the duty is levied on imported items only. y r u worried about something which u never ever used.
Zaheer, dude, how many mobile phones, microwaves, and other commercial electrical items are manufactured solely in Pakistan?? Everything good, top to bottom, is imported. Either that or core components of every electrical items are imported hence being effected by the regulatory taxes.
You forgot the very luxirious Washing machine (now even the local maid will be cursing our very own sherry rehman)…
The story hasn’t been ended here watch out for loads of great economic policies (offcourse in a democratic way) in near future…
