After the elections on the 18th February , the elected Prime Minister of the PPP announced that the workers and students union ban will be lifted . It was Bhutto’s strategy to organize a union for both labors and students . Later after freak incidents of violence this was banned . As educational institutes should maintain their prestige and students should not be allowed to indulge in political activities within institute premises . Upon releasing the ban the activities have sprung up yet again . According to sources : Three students of Karachi University were killed and 10 others wounded in clashes between workers of the Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba and the All Pakistan Muttahida Student Organization on the campus on Tuesday, police and witnesses said. The KU administration announced that the varsity would remain closed for two days because of the law and order situation on the campus after the clash that claimed the lives of two IJT workers and an APMSO worker. Witnesses said panic and tension gripped the campus as the rivals exchanged heavy gunfire in the presence of Rangers, posted in almost every nook and cranny of the university The incident went on with the beating of three teachers . Also several injured and a motor bike torched . This in the premises of one of the biggest institutes in Karachi is condemnable . The rangers were also present at the scene . Karachi university has a huge covered area with a lot of security here and there around the corner. The deaths of students with in the institute is very shocking . This also makes the institute unsafe in the future . As anyone is able to break the security and commence such violence . |
