Quran about Jews and Christians

Islam brought with it the completion of ALLAH’s message . The seal of the Prophethood came with Hazrat Muhammad (Sallahlaho alahi wasalam) . Islam is the completion of messages sent earlier through Moses ( Hazrat Musa) and Jesus (Hazrat Essa) . The Jews and Christians have always been mentioned in the Quran as ‘Ayl-e kitab’ .

The Quran mentions Jews and Christians several times

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve .
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #62)

Those to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him (Muhammad SAW or the Kabah at Makkah) as they recongise their sons. But verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it - (i.e. the qualities of Muhammad SAW which are written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)).
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #146)

This Ayat sheds light on the Importance of Tauheed ‘oneness of ALLAH’ . Whoever believes in ALLAH and worships none but him believes in the message of ALLAH sent in the QURAN. For those who don’t ALLAH says in the Quran

And when they (Jews) meet those who believe (Muslims), they say, “We believe”, but when they meet one another in private, they say, “Shall you (Jews) tell them (Muslims) what Allah has revealed to you (Jews, about the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him , that which are written in the Taurat (Torah)) , that they (Muslims) may argue with you (Jews) about it before your Lord?” Have you (Jews) then no understanding?
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #76)

And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Quran) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him ), then produce a Soorah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #23)

The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing (i.e. are not on the right religion); and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing (i.e. are not on the right religion); though they both recite the Scripture. Like unto their word, said (the pagans) who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they have been differing.
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #113)

ALLAH then answers the Questions of the non-believers

Say (O Muhammad Peace be upon him to the Jews and Christians), “Dispute you with us about Allah while He is our Lord and your Lord? And we are to be rewarded for our deeds and you for your deeds. And we are sincere to Him in worship and obedience (i.e. we worship Him Alone and none else, and we obey His Orders).”
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #139)

Or say you that Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob) and Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)) were Jews or Christians? Say, “Do you know better or does Allah (knows better that they all were Muslims)? And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony (i.e. to believe in Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him when he comes, written in their Books. (See Verse 7:157)) he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.”

(Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #140)

ALLAH subhanawatalla emphasizes on spreading the word of Peace ‘dawah’ . The Quran not only mentions the accusations by the non believers but also gives the answers to their queries . The Quran was revealed for guidance ( hidayat) and therefore ALLAH guides us on convincing the non believers. The Queries and accusations of the non believers have been mentioned on a fairly large quantity in Quran. This lays emphasis on the need of knowing about the true message and spreading it . The Quran trains a Muslim to be able to do dawah and answer speculations regarding Islam .

For those who are ignorant on their belief despite da wah , ALLAH says:

And even if you were to bring to the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) all the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they would not follow your Qiblah (prayer direction), nor are you going to follow their Qiblah (prayer direction). And they will not follow each others Qiblah (prayer direction). Verily, if you follow their desires after that which you have received of knowledge (from Allah), then indeed you will be one of the Zalimoon (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.).
( Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #145)

So if they dispute with you (Muhammad SAW) say: “I have submitted myself to Allah (in Islam), and (so have) those who follow me.” And say to those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and to those who are illiterates (Arab pagans): “Do you (also) submit yourselves (to Allah in Islam)?” If they do, they are rightly guided; but if they turn away, your duty is only to convey the Message; and Allah is All-Seer of (His ) slaves.
( Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #20)

It is a duty for every Muslim to not only read and understand the message of ALLAH but also spread it . It is through the actions of the Muslims that Islam will spread globally . Our way of life represents Islam just like Hazrat Muhammad sallalahu waalahi waslam’s life inspired many . The time has come where we need to look into our lives and start implementing the message of ALLAH . With the guidance in the Quran it will not be difficult to do Dawah and spread the message of ALLAH. To bring unanimity and peace in the world we need to seek a common ground minimizing all disputes and grudges.

Say (O Muhammad SAW): “O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims.”
( Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #64)

The article doesnt include all the verses of the Quran mentioning Jews, however it covers the basic ones.
