“Whoever controls the media - the images - controls the culture” . One doesn’t require much effort to analyze this, our country is a living proof. When Geo first started people actually found a place of relief a platform for unspoken miseries. As always Geo was welcomed as much as publications by the ‘Jang group’. Watching news on state television became history . Images of media representatives sitting face to face with high level politicians plastered on TV screens everywhere. There were questions to be answered and hopes to be met . Under the governments given freedom media channels bloomed and blossomed .

As they say ‘there is an end to everything’ , and yet there was for our dear media too. The unfortunate part is the end of responsible media was the beginning of added misery of the people of this nation . Every child in Pakistan, today has seen at least two human bodies covered in blood with limbs ripped off. In the race of TRP we gave our children the taste of flesh and blood. Provoked fear and commercialized violence pushing the scenario beyond a normal man’s patience level . The ‘U TURN’ of these media platforms generated much havoc in the country . So many matters over painted and exaggerated on purpose.

What is beyond comprehension is the simple truth that a group of people can utilize their power in order to fulfill ‘personal’ clashes. Making mountains out of mole , creating
Sensational news for commercial benefit . The most important rule of anyone trying to depict a situation is to do paint it with out bias . With our media the building brick to any matter is bias itself . Facts molded with the same clay , exaggeration , state bashing, anti- musharraf and anti-state. Rarely do we see an appreciation coming our way , rarely is it that we hear the progress in our country . We all understand the millions of loss during the ‘ban’ phase but should it be sucked out of the people of Pakistan? . What the media needs to understand is that in their regime of anti Mush bashing they aren’t targeting Musharraf but Pakistan too . The global impact of Pakistan has worsened drastically over the past years . This makes a strong impact internationally posing our people as terrorist extremist. The media is the eye for the global front to view the conditions in our country . Unfortunately we have been betrayed, our identities forged and suited for their self benefit .

We don’t want ladies painted with 2 kilo make up delivering news , we want to hear about Pakistan . We want to know that as we plan things every morning before leaving the house , that it actually makes a difference . We don’t care if bilalwal sneezed or zardari reached home late we want to see how a disable child scored significant marks in her exam. I am sick of the usual ‘Jump-to-conclusion’ attitude . I want an attitude that makes a difference . I might as well appear on screen someday like the usual rallies and stuff but my slogan will be GO GEO GO !! Jeenay do ! ( leave GEO leave and let us live ).
