Our government employees are a source of inspiration for the global gang of robbers and dacoits because it is through them that they come to know about the latest techniques of robbing their own country.

Our readers might be aware of the gas price hike issue as it appeared in majority of the newspapers today. The summary of the matter is that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authrity wrongly communicated the increase in oil and gas prices and hence the price was raised by Rs. 13 instead of Rs 4.3 per kg. This drama of increased prices continued for a whole day  and it was only after extensive criticism by the media that the government came out with a clarification note. It is a very shocking incident which resulted in the robbing of million of consumers for one whole day while our in efficient OGRA was sleeping or may be enjoying the record level of corruption to which they were an equal party. I won’t be surprised if OGRA officials were paid by CNG dealers a hefty amount for making a calculation mistake that resulted in extra charging of million of rupees to the consumers.

This is not a new thing for our un accountable government officials as they have been used to such episodes in the past. We all know the famous Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) incident where the stock prices were misquoted and millions were made in few hours. Till date we haven’t heard any judgement by the SECP officials on that case. I am sure no inquiry will be made into the OGRA incident as well.
