It was in the news on the 20 th of this month yet it took me a while to rationalize and write on it at last . When I heard of it from a friend it sounded as if the UN had made Rape legal in war . As I read the report however it sounded different but much the same. The united nations with all due respect has the tendency to reflect the likes of the US , where the US sheds bomb the UN brings relief . The unfortunate part is the united nation with its shameful trend of highlighting facts and then letting others fight and kill over it presists till date. Did we all not know that all is fair in love and war ? . After all what does one truly expect by putting thousand of men in a foreign land with poor living conditions away from family and piles of death and frustation ?. No body becomes an angel or a devil instantly its the underlying orientation of the society which only shows under certain circumstances. So what does the UN say it wants from categorizing rape as war tactic ?  acknowledgement they say . Apparantely they believe categorizing rape as a war tactic and also enclosing it with  commanders stating how rape is a very’effective’ strategy to cripple the society, will help eliminate it . It also goes on stating that rape should be conducted in front of the family as it passes a ’strong’ message and destroys generations. Now the UN by actually showing how effective rape has been so far in war , is actualy taking a step to eliminate it . To the respective heads and memebers of the UN council , did we really have to declare rape as a war tactic and enhance its importance in the minds of likeminded war criminals ? Could we not just categorize it as a war CRIME? I may be too narrow minded , might as well be too anti-western but am surely not ignorant and I do know there could ve been other ways than throwing something this offensive as  a TACTIC !
