Pakistan Budget 2008 09- Disaster for Poor

The budget is a disaster for the poor as i just saw from the highlights on my cell phone. It seems the government left nothing un taxed. The telecommunication industry from which i myself belong has been pushed to the edge by imposing flat tax of Rs.1000 on all imported mobiles, which means that rich will pay same 1000 for a Rs.30000 mobile and the poor will pay it for Rs2000 mobile phone. The imposition of tax on mobile bill above Rs 1000 of 10 percent will also impact the usage. Cement price, fans, airconditioning units and even the price of light has been increased. I wonder if they will telle me where is the good for the poor in all this? This is pushing the poor and middle class to extreme edge. I am right now on move and writing from mobile and will write a detail analysis once am back in home. |
