Pakistan Budget 2008-09 - Defence Budget Details
|
In the coming budget of Pakistan for 2008-09, the coalition government is claiming to disclose a one liner detail of the defence budget. Till date the military budget is not disclosed to any civlians as back in 1965, the then government of military dictator Ayub Khan stopped showing details of military budget to the country elected parliamentaries. This is the primary reason that our military has build a vast empire as thre is not one to challenge them with audit or accountability except their own internal auditors. This time our government is claiming that they would disclose at least one liner details of the military budget as to how many people our army has employed and what is the distribution of budget in the three forces. This practise is prevalent in India for the past few decades and it took us our people to figure this our in years that they have to follow them. I wonder if our elected ministers will also follow the foot path of the indian ministers who are known for the simplicity with which they carry themselves. Even the example of Laloo Prasad Yadev is more then enough for them. Our President has his own jet, each Chief Minister has their own aircrafts and there is no account of helicopters whihc are at their service. Even after all these facilities, they have failed to produce any results for the nation. ISLAMABAD, June 6: The government plans to impose new taxes and increase import duty on luxury items in the budget to overcome shortage of funds, according to Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar.

What kind of exact results are you talking about? Military aircrafts and VIP transport aircrafts are part of the every country, and every official of the country. Unless of course you want to transport your representative leader with the stone age mentality then “Ghada Gari” will be much more suitable.
