Virtual Quran Academy

by Sana Saleem on June 29, 2008

There is a hidden charisma in working with team effort . It is the assurance that comes with knowing that there are people who will guide you and have mutual aims. The one thing about Pro-Pakistan that truly inspired me to join and hence ignore my personal blog totally (lol) , was an aim to promote Pakistan and Pakisanis as a whole. At pro-Pakistan we promote our fellow country men or those globally whose efforts need to be highlighted. So in team spirit I will take a genuine step towards highlighting a service I came across. It is a virtual Quran academy available on skype and yahoo. It would be best to put their message in their own words.

This I believe is a genuine step towards spreading the word of Allah with convenience . This is most suitable for people who live abroad and have difficulty managing time for their children . All of us waste a lot of time in the virtual world . Please take sometime out to spread this message to everyone you know that might be interested or they might know someone who can benefit from it . These efforts should be credited and one should promote such efforts . I hope this is useful to some of you , or atleast you know someone who can benefit from it .

Can a woman refuse prostitution ?

by Sana Saleem on June 28, 2008

I am in mourning today , mourning yet another scar from the ‘chaotic shift’ in the society. The gifts of vulgarism camouflaged under the tags of so-called modernism . I usually avoid watching the plethora of news channels, but this news indeed was unavoidable.

‘ A man threw acid on his wife burning her eyes and face and body , because he was drunk and forced her to sell herself to earn a bit of cash, preferably needing money to drink more’

.

This is exactly what a woman deserves if she chooses to maintain her chastity in this flesh hungry society. The man may as well get arrested and he might face severe penalties but the questions remain , will this refrain other men to do the same? . How will she continue her life now ? What is her future?. How many of such women will die and be burned in the name of honor and disgrace?. I am not much of a feminist , although I do believe in equality on humanitarian grounds. How many women are going to suffer either at the hands  of ‘IZAT’ (pride) or ‘HAWAS’ (desire). It is not only about the rights of women it is about being Human . It is about knowing and acknowledging that everyone has the right to co-exist with peace . It is about knowing that such barbaric attempts for pleasure will not be tolerated . I DEMAND PUBLIC EXECUTIONS OF SUCH BARBIC ACTS , RAPE INCLUDED. I may sound inhumane but where is humanity anyway?

Khyber Agency Operation - Update

by MJK on June 28, 2008

The Khyber agency operation is well underway and my personal impression is that that it has been fought more at media rather then on ground. The people of Mangal Bagh are retreating without fighting the advancing security forces of Pakistan. The home of Mangal Bagh has been blown with explosives after a small resistance by his men.

Currently, Mangal Bagh is busy fighting his rival Ansar ul Islam forces in the Tirah Valley in Orakzai Agency. The security agency claims that the operations will continue for 5 days to establish the write of hte government in and around Peshawar. The operations hold significance because of the recent bold moves by the militants of entering the town of Peshawar openly. The problem is that the militants will continue their activity once the operation is over. The militants strategy is mainly guerilla and hence they will never take a frontal fight with the security agencies. The need is for a long term strategy to fight this rising menace of terrorism.

Operation Begin in Khyber Agency

by MJK on June 28, 2008

The security agencies have started an operation against the Lashkar e Islami and other militants in the Bara Tehsil area of Khyber Agency. Right now helicopter movement is visible as i can see them passing through Hayatabad town of Peshawar. Distant sounds of explosions can be heard and as per the news reports, there is no much resistance faced by the security forces till now. There are reports of heavy fighting in the forward areas of the Barra Tehsil.

Let us all hope that the operation gets over smoothly and peace is restored in the region.

Barra Tehsil - Curfew Imposed

by MJK on June 28, 2008

Since yesterday, tension has increased in the Barra Tehsil on the suburbs of Peshawar. Since i am myself sitting in Peshawar and very close to Barra Tehsil, i witnessed helicopters moving towards the tehsil, where now a curfew has been imposed. Relatives and dear ones are calling each other to stay inside homes as active fighting may start anytime with wide repercussions for the posh locality of Hayatabad, bordering the Khyber Tribal agency.

In the last fight between two groups in Khyber agency, the residents of Hayatabad were deprived of peace as the sounds of heavy gun fire echoed the town and the resident didn’t sleep for weeks. I can myself feel the fear that has engulfed the whole city and specially the areas adjoining the tribal areas. I wonder when a city of 3 million people is so tense, how can Zardari go to Greece and Turkey to have some good time in the name of bilateral relations. The rates of property has already crashed in Peshawar and people are rationing food for rainy days while rich are fleeing the city to the nearby city of Islamabad, which is also the next city in line and the capital of Pakistan.. Even New York Times gave a wide spread coverage to the fact that the city of Peshawar is in danger of falling to the Taliban. Baithullah Mehsud has also acknowledged the fact that taking over Peshawar is a matter of hours for his loyalists.

I wonder our brothers and sisters in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi are sleeping? Don’t they realize the fact that the next city in line after Peshawar is Islamabad and that the Taliban have already spread their influence till Attock, the bordering city of NWFP with Punjab.
